what is your opinion of autotune? in case you don't know, this is autotune

it's used by many other artists including vampires everywhere, brokencyde, faderhead.

I can't stand it. I think it sounds weird. I prefer natural vocals. whether it be singing, grunting, or even whispering. Just goes to show that anyone can be a frontman these days.

I hate it. Enough said.

She probably does, though not in the same way Brokencyde does.

I hate autotune when it's used to hide bad singing. If there's just a touch of autotune to add some gloss to a pop song, I don't think it's inappropriate, in fact I think it's great. It's the end result that counts. In folk, punk or alt-rock, it would sound out of place, but in pop music it works.

yeah. like, if most of the song is natural singing, and then there is some autotune in the background, then it sounds alright. and sometimes can be decent depending on how high you turn it up. The way that faderhead uses it is really annoying. I could never stand him to begin with.

I saw an interview with Matt Stone and Trey Parker. They said they used autotune when doing the kanye west episode. Trey said he sang into it normally and nothing happened. Turns out you have to sing off pitch in order for it to work. :lol: He said you pretty much have to be a bad singer to make it work.

I don't understand the hate. Most entertainers use some variation of autotune when they record albums.

It doesn't show up in any of the music I actually listen to, so I actually don't have much experience with it.

Don't be so quick to judge. Autotune in all those rap songs sucks. Totally. But autotune can be hella useful. Autotune isn't necessarilly "robot voice", its pitch correction.

Your in a studio, Perfoming song. You miss a note here or there singing. Autotunecan/will correct the pitches so you dont have to sing the whole damn song over again. Its an awesome program that has just been terribly abused.

As a music major Ive gotten to use it in my school's studio/sound design class. Its actually really cool to sing into one. Its neat. As a singer I feel like it has its place in the studio but should not be used to cheat live.

I'm waiting on for an album where all someone does is fart into an autotune machine. I think it will catch on like wildfire.

Autotune is used often in recording. People like T-pain just feel the need to blast it like no other which is just flat out stupid sounding IMO.

Other artists use it to sharpen up their studio recordings a bit

when a person uses it right i have no problem, but when people like lil wayne, t-pain, 95% of the other artist on the radio that use it i hate it.

Only auto tuned album i can stand is kanyes 808's and heartbreak at least he used it the whole time in every song, if you are gonna use it, at least use it right.

I'm probably the only person here who has no problem with autotune. Yeah, they may be covering up for their lack of singing ability, but it doesn't affect me any.ff7fan2

Besides the fact that it allows people without talent to become successful "musicians", the sound it creates is just annoying to me.

Something that needs to die a horrible death. Oh wait, the mainstream music industry already did that.
