"Avatar 2" Details Surface

We recently heard that 20th Century Fox has started hiring technical crew members for the second "Avatar" installment. Their contracts are for three to five years, which means that the film won't be ready before 2013.

Since people are already being hired, some have assumed that "Avatar 2" is in pre-production. Not so says MarketSaw. The site confirmed that the sequel will probably hit theaters within 4 years, but James Cameron will likely first make "The Dive," which is about a couple who attempts to break the world record in freediving.

Regarding "Avatar 2," the site says that while the first movie ended with a battle, the sequel will be a full blown war taking place off of Pandora. In addition, some of the parts of the "Avatar" script that didn't make it into the movie, will be used in the second installment.

Well, considering Avatar was one the funnest, prettiest, and enjoyable movies I have ever seen I am definately looking forward to the sequal.

I look forward to it :D. Cameron knows how to do sequels and the premise, if it's the actual idea, sounds awesome for the sequel.

I thought Avatar was a great movie, so I am interested to see how this sequel turns out...in another 3-5 years...

Full blown battle......off Pandora? As in outer space or low orbit? Between who? Surely, the N'avi aren't even capable of Space flight yet, unless they use the same Marine gas masks on themselves and their trusty flying K'ran or flying dragons whatever the hell they're called :lol:

Hopefully, Cameron "redeems" himself. I really miss the old "R" rated Cameron. Not that R-rated is the uttermost importance in his films. I really enjoyed the underrated, underappreciated ABYSS.

I thought Cameron wanted to film the second and third films together, ala LOTR's?

3-5 years sounds very excessive for a single sequel, especially considering all the assets and technology from the first film that can be recycled in the second and third.

I love avatar, I mean fell for it big time but how is a sequel even pheasable?

It was a very good film, but way too overdone on the action and had it's cheesy moments, I only felt the need to carry on watching it because of the effects. I doubt the second will be any better, just better effects.

What I want to know is will they recycle the same theme from the first movie or will there be a totally new theme coupled with whatever impendingthreat awaits Pandora. If it is simply the space Marines and that company coming back with reinforcements there is no point to making a sequel. A truly good sequel would have something fresh to offer and a new theme that was not already completely concluded and wapped up in the first movie.

Awesome. Can't wait to see what it will look like. This time i'll be going day one, instead of three weeks after it comes out.

Wow, Avatar haters, it must be hard for you all to watch it going into its eighth week still in first place? The movie was amazing. I don't know anyone that hasn't thought so. Then again, I've always noticed that a lot of Gamespotters don't like things just because others DO.cheeselover

Avstar is bad though, it's the definition of overrated. Loving it is just as much a trend as loving twilight, or highschool musical.

no we dont care whether its first or 10th we "hate" it because it boring and overrated and everyone talks about it like its a phenomenal movie.If you think it was amazing you have a really bad taste(and yes those millions that saw avatar have a bad taste,majorities have been always proven to be guided by the media and not have a thought of their own).Some people hate some things because they are popular and avatar too but others hate it because it deserves to be hated.

The first movie looked amazing, everything else was decent or pretty good. But I literally have no idea what they can do with a sequel, and anything I can think of sounds horrible. So I don't know what to expect.
