Well, which of these two films do you think has the better CGI? I personally think its TRANSFORMERS. Not only did ILM have to completely render the Autobots and Decepticons, they also had to animate them from scratch. In Avatar, they used motion capture for the animation. So, from a technical standpoint, it didn't require as much skill. Also, though most of the scenes in Avatar were absolutely breathtaking, there were scenes in which the skin of the Na'vi didn't look realistic and had a plastic like appearance. As for Transformers, I think the Autobots and Decepticons looked absolutely real. ILM did a really good job with the texture of the metallic surfaces, the way light and reflections appeared on the surfaces, the animations of the individual parts on the robots (shifting gears, etc.), and the overall animation of the robots. What's your opinion on this? Please provide a reason for your answer.
EDIT:
I just learned that ILM animated Avatar as well. I didn't know that. Wow. These guys are the best in the business. They're so good, that the only work which can compete with theirs...is their own.
