I'd say that's good; sometimes, I wish I didn't have a cellphone.I guess I'm not an average teenager.

The only times I ever text are when I have the basic "hey are you going to be at (where ever I wanted to ask)...." and sometimes i'll get texts like that to respond to. All and all maybe 10-15 a month. Basically things that talking would take longer to call the person about than to text. When I want to talk to someone it's usually on facebook through Facebook's IM feature.
I'm 18 and i average about 2000-2500 a month. My plan only lets me have 2.5k a month so i got to be careful :P
only reason i text so much is because i text my girlfriend. I go to university far away, so i text her a lot. I can't phone her because it will be long distance :P

Your plan could replace texting with long distance calling i bet....I have a friend that actually averages 10K+ every single month. I just don't get it. Are these people talking to others about the meaning of life or something? How can there be that much to talk about? But the catch is they aren't even talking - surely calling the person and talking to them would get the answer much faster. If I need to send someone more than a couple of texts I just call them instead.[QUOTE="Tweetie-Pot"]I have friend who's 21 who sent out 14,000 text messages last month. Teens got nothin' on adults. :PPirate700
Can you imagine what would happen if tomorrow, no one between 13-22 years of age could text? I would laugh so hard at that. It seems they've become so dependent on it, I can't conceive what they'd be like without being able to text.FragStainsWe adapt. I'm wary of criticizing "kids today" as it will probably make me a bitter old man in a few years. :P

Your plan could replace texting with long distance calling i bet.... oh, for sure. But that means we could only talk to eachother when we both are not busy. like my classes are spread out during the day, hers are in the morning. We need to do homework and other things. Texting is easier to multitask with.im a teen and i send none.
i used to but i lost my phone. even when i had that one, i noly sent 300-400 a month :P
I send 3,339 texts per millennium. thriteenthmonkeCell phones, iPhones, and all that other stuff didn't exist in the year 1010, silly. :P
Ahh misleading statistics. In this case the average is much less relevant that the median because there are people that send 15,000+ texts a month and that really skews the average.
I've only had a phone for a little over a month, and I can never see myself texting that much.
Since 2pm today (it's nearly 5:30pm now) I've sent 8 texts.
Most of my texts are trying to get together with people at lunch. Sometimes I have a passive conversation with someone (I'm not going to bother calling my sister over something like it snowing for the first time this year or kicking ass on a test >_____> ) Even then they'll only be no more than 10 in an hour.
I'm 21, and think I'm around 1000 per month sent *and* received. I've definitely had months with FAR more and far less, though.Dark__LinkSame here
Teens + young adults don't just text one person. We talk to many people. I used to text a lot but then I stopped, I prefer personal interaction. Most of my texting is due to me being bored as hell in class. That's frightening. I mean seriously if you have that much to say to someone, pick up the damn phone and call them.

Haha, its the only way they communicate, its just like when teens used AIM and other IM things 24/7. If you don't remember, when you're in highschool you have much more "friends" then when you are in the real world as you're forced into spending hours with dozens of people. This means they have more people to text and texting is their main form of communication. Not much of a surprise when you think about it. If you're having a solid convo with someone through texting you can send 50+ an hour. So imagine having conversations with 4 or 5 people sending 50 texts an hour to each one.
It's funny how many people here look down on teens for texting. 3000 may seem like a lot, but think about how many of you use steam, gamespot, other forums, online messaging, dating sites, etc and put that into perspective.
I'm 16 and I've never sent a text in my life. I find itagpickleJust to let you know, using them term 'retarded' in a derogatory manner doesn't fly here.
