So just curious, where was god when they were killed? Was that his plan for them? To be killed by terrorists? How is this justified in terms of their religion? Its a terrible thing that has happened but it just seems to me like god doesn't care about people at all, or maybe he did know about this (since he is all knowing/seeing right) but he enjoys watching people suffer or just doesn't really care about the people he "loves".

Regarding the usual, age-old "WHY DOES GOD LET PEOPLE SUFFER? WHY DOESNT HE HELP THEM?!?! WHY DOTH MY LIFE SUCKETH SO MUCH?!"

From the Islamic perspective :

"He it is who created the heavens and the earth in six EPOCHS, and His Throne was over the waters, that He might try you, which of you is best in conduct." (Surah Hud: 7)

We did not give any human being before you immortality. And if you die, will they then be immortal? Every self will taste death. We test you with both good and evil as a trial. And you will be returned to Us. (Surat al-Anbiya', 34-35)

Be sure We shall test you with something of fear and hunger, some loss in goods and lives and the fruits (of your toil), but give glad tidings to those who patiently persevere, who say, when afflicted with calamity: "To Allah we belong, and to Him is our return". They are those on whom (descend) blessings from Allah, and mercy, and they are the ones that receive guidance. (Surat al-Baqarah: 155- 157)

I don't know about the other religions but this is according to my own religion. As muslims, we do believe that each and every calamity is a test, even the fear of death.

Can you please keep religion out of this? These people are suffering and you are here trying to argue about something that nobody can proove or disproove.

Why should we? If it weren't for religion, these people would still be alive. I agree that this is not the place to debate theology, but the fact remains that words and actions cannot even begin to describe the deep seated hatred and loathing I feel for religion, and human stupidity and ignorance every time I read about something like this in the news. It's wonderful that people can find confidence and meaning in their faith, but when this is what faith brings, this suffering and loss... the despair and repugnance I feel go beyond what words can describe. The feeling is brief, but at the same time, it is powerful.

These people have such hatred in their hearts, if religion isn't their excuse, it would be something else. I never did get this argument - religion is not doing the killing, people are doing the killing and their misguided sense of morals.

[QUOTE="mattbbpl"][QUOTE="wstfld"]Aren't they worshiping the same God?alexside1
Yeah, it's a very sad irony.

they have different ideals of god.

I figure that they're religion is 600 years (give or take) behind Christianity. Where was Christianity 600 years ago? It takes a while for a religion to sort itself out.

I hate al qaeda so much. Why can't they just be peaceful and stop ******* killing everybody because they are different. How the hell did they get this brainwashed?

BMD004

They are taken in as children very often and brainwashed throughout their childhood that that is the right thing to do and its what their god wants them to do. Then those people will brainwash other children and its just a vicious cycle that will prolly keep happening for a long time to come.

It seems Baghdad residents get no respite. Another series of attacks - 40 - 76 dead.
