[QUOTE="Greatgone12"][QUOTE="web966"]Fugazi and Husker Dudangerd0g24

Fugazi and Husker Du get a lot of credit. In fact, VH1 had a list a couple of years ago that included both of those bands. I don't think that's a compliment, but it's recognition.

the only reason that Fugazi probably got credit is because Ian Mackaye is in it.

The Guy songs are where its at with Fugazi.

Anyways, I have no idea why Nick Cave isn't widely considered a rock and roll god. Seriously, dude makes nonstop high quality records for over 20 years and still isn't considered totally important.

I personally believe that bands get the recognition they deserve. If they work hard, are talented, release good music, and tour extensively they will get the recognition.

So I won't name any bands because of that.

I agree with this....

Well, anyone who actually plays music knows who King Crimson is, (or at least one musician who has been with them) but they deserve FAR FAR FAR FAR FAR more recognition (among the average music listener) than any band to come to my mind.

Canned Heat and Exodus. Both bands kick ass. Canned Heat was at Woodstock, and their music is awesome. I'm sure they were big back in the 60s, but I don't hear too many people talking about them.

I went to one of those festivals, the hop farm festival. Supergrass, Primal Scream, Neil Young and My Morning Jacket played there. Great show.

rastaman219

Neil Young? Kind of strange to see him with that group of bands.

Yeah it was a bit random, great show though. Rufus Wainright and the Guilemots were there also. Nobody here knows the Guilemots though.

Guilemonts sing get over it, i know there other songs too.

They are multi cultured

I'm surprised you know them, I like their stuff alot but some people I play their stuff to find them hard to listen to at first. What do you think of them?

agreed, his last album with the bad seeds was great. He kinda reminds me of Frank Zappa for some reason.

Porcupine Tree are so overrated IMO. King's X are a band who deserve more attention.DFan17902

overrated? How can a band that doesnt get much recognition in the mainstream be overrated? More like underrated if you as me.

Because people claim that their music is so original and unique and amazing, and that they're the "be all and end all" of music. In reality, they're not that great. Kind of like what people say about Tool.

I havent heard them called that before, I just think they make some really great albums, I wouldnt call them what you say some people call them. Then again I was never a huge tool fan either.

Why?

Their lyrics are so interesting and pretty funny at times. The music is good too.

Goblin c**k

Its stoner metal for "nerds". If you like to get high, or have a stoner mentality, and you like Lord of the Rings, you might like this group. Its a side project of Rob Crow who just rocks.

Terrible sound as in bad sound quality at the concert or bad band? I kind like them, they remind me of Def Leppard.

Firewind are well known. So are Avantasia. Are you just getting into metal?

They're also really good live, Gus G. is nuts.

Still, progressive rock has lost it's essence over the years.

Sad but true, it seems progressive metal is the best place to find progressive music now. Though there are some prog gems, nothing up the the standard of classics like the lamb lies down on broadway or thick as a brick.
