Isn't it sad when you just love a band and no one has heard their absolute awesomeness?
Well, it's time for you to give them more exposure!

I'll start:

Deolinda - A young Portuguese band influenced by traditional Portuguese music mainly fado, but more "happy" and humorous (Different enough, as I hate fado). Also, the singer has a KILLER voice :D

Also, Blasted Mechanism - Another Portuguese band. The music is... well, unique :) They also have a weird tendency to wear crazy costumes.

They are by no means unknown, but I feel Trivium deserve far more credit than they receive.... They're one of my favourite bands XD. All That Remains would fit into that too, I really like them and not many people do from my experience.

All That Remains are pretty well-known. I wouldn't put them in this category.

In Vain, a Norwegian prog death metal band, and thrash/hardcore metal band sic from the Faroe Islands. They deserve to be better known than they are.

Two Door Cinema Club.I found out about these guys not long ago, an alt-pop trio from Ireland. At least that's what I would consider it, don't know what else it could be labelled under..

Ah yes, like I said, they are known, but it's just my opinion they deserve a bit more recognition ;).

While not "bands" I listen to a lot of trance artists that not many people other than trance fans would have heard of, but I guess no matter how much I prattle on about it I won't be heard over the "my band is more underground than your band" elitism that goes on here.

I didn't detect any elitism yet...

The bands I mentioned, for example, are not underground at all. They're just not known outside Portugal.

Heck, my favourite band is Muse and they are very far from being underground.

Norazo not technically a band (used to be rock band, and they still do their guitar riffs themselves), but still awesome. Their lyrics are just amazing(ly funny).

The Black Keys, they're blues-rock duo like The White Stripes but more focused on blues and slide guitar.

The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart. awesome new band from New York. their sound's kind of like My Bloody Valentine meets the Smiths meets the Beach Boys, seriously recommend them to anyone with taste.

Just how obscure are they? Google and find out. If you find a link to anything in less than an hour i'll be impressed.

Does their myspace page count? It was the first link to show up when I typed in "chlorine" and "band".

Oh, and another link

If you were a proper hipster, they'd be way too mainstream for you already.

Now do me a favor and find somewhere that has any of their stuff available for streaming ( not short previews of one song ). The CD i got at their promo event back in 1999 doesnt play anymore and i havent purchased a replacement even though i could get a used one for like $2.

It's hard to find music that is truly unknown, but I guess the Art Bears and Henry Cow would fit the bill. Although I listen to plenty of "obscure" stuff these are the only bands I literally have never seen mentioned (save for the person that recommended them to me). Here are some other great ones that are in no way unknown, just seldom mentioned nowadays: Dead Can Dance, Premiata Forneria Marconi, Banco del Mutuo Soccorso, Weakling

+10 000 000 points from me to you. I ****ing love AIDS Wolf, they're insane. Had the chance to see them live before their reboot, can't wait to hear the new stuff. I also recommend ManyMental Mistakes, another noise rock band from Montreal. I have their LP and the new EP, it's pretty sweet. Met the bassist in an indie record store once, that's how I heard about them :)

Deolinda - A young Portuguese band influenced by traditional Portuguese music mainly fado, but more "happy" and humorous (Different enough, as I hate fado). Also, the singer has a KILLER voice :D

Cataclism

I really, really like this one. Thanks for sharing, are you portuguese by any chance?

97% of what I listen to the general public has never heard of. I'll just say Hellveto because I really want that guy to get more popular, ******* deserves it, puts out multiple albums in a single year, and every single album he has released (that I've heard thus far) has been awesome.

Front Line Assembly. Nobody I've ever talked to even has a clue if they exist. Kinda disappointing but industrial is that way I guess. If it isn't NIN then don't expect anybody to know who you're talking about.
