I'm sure by now you've already seen the comments made by John Gibson following Heath's death. While what he said is protected by freedom of speech(which is a great thing) , I think criticising Heath Leger diminishes the impact of his untimely passing. Coming from personal experience with having a parent with deep mental issues, it's clear that Leger was mentally disturbed and needed help. Why not use this incident to raise awareness about the issue of mental health instead of merely bashing the man for being a "drug addict".

He was not mentally disturbed. He just overdosed. Is that so hard to believe?

i find it hugelly offensive that a man passed away, a very sad thing, and people are calling him a pervert because he furthered his acting career by playing in a movie that portrayed him as a gay cowboy

Dude, they never said that he was a drug addict. They autopsy was inconclusive, and all of the "drugs" found at his place were perscription for allergies, sleep aides, and things like that.

The toxicology report hasnt come out yet, theyre still doing the tests. Its pointless to speculate about how he died until it comes out, and its especially pointless to speculate about his mental wellbeing as only he and his close friends/relatives really knew for sure. Theyre not going to be saying slanderous remarks about him anytime soon. Personally, I think its disgusting what Gibson has been saying. He didnt know Heath, he should find some respect for the dead, especially someone who died so young.

It's a sad thing when people die. It's also sad when people can't see anything but bad things in other people.

Exactly but a bunch of talking heads in the media have been calling him a drug addict and a perv just because of Brokeback. Seriously if that movie was about a man and a woman rather than 2 men people would've called it an epic romance movie, cuz if you watch it for what it is and don't focus solely on the fact that it's two guys the movie is brilliant.

It appears like his death was an accident. Reports are saying that all the drugs were prescription and that the bottles were mostly filled. It does not appear that he had a drug problem.

He had anxiety and insomnia by the sounds of it. He probably mixed some medications and just dropped dead.

I still can't believe some conspiracy theorists out there are saying it's all a hoax to promote him as the Joker. Nuttier then those 9/11 truthers, I swear.

I truly think he had mental issues, it wasn't just an overdose. He might not have been diagnosed with depression or things like that, but just watching some of his interviews before his death you can see he had problems.

Well, pharmacueticals are some really dangerous business. A kid at my school overdosed and died over the summer on them. The main thing is just that they're more complicated and interact in ways that you'd have to consult a chemist to determine ahead of time. It's like playing Russian roullette when you mix pills.

What I find sad is how much coverage one mans death has gotten when there have already been over 400 Iraqis and 36 Americans killed in Iraq this year.

Umm, he didn't OD. The chemical tests showed that there wasn't enough drugs in his system for that to happen, and so now they are saying it was probably a heart attack or something which was probably caused by long term use, not just one massive dose.

Yes, but the pills were in their bottles on the nightstand.
