Batman's Fate in The Dark Knight Rises (discussion)

One thing that really bothers me is that many people think batman will die in TDKR. Everyone is talking about it, and Youtube is going berserk over it. Why? Does anyone honestly think Nolan would do that? The trailers make it seem like he will die and with so many people believing it, why would Nolan just blatantly tell the audience that easily? Nolan is a man of many suprises in his films and I think this is the greatest illusion he's pulled. I mean the movie is called The Dark Knight RISES for a reason.

What do you think?

IN THE END, Joseph Levitt takes bruces spot as batman and both him and Bane die, everybody thinks batman is dead, bruce moves on wiht his life with a new love interest [/spoiler]

I sincerely doubt that they will let Bruce Wayne die. That's not to say nobody else could ever be Batman (they've done that in the comics after all), but I highly doubt that they will let some no name cop take his place. I say this both because it would leave comic book readers in a weird place, and for a practicle reason namely any normal person wouldn't have access to the funds that would allow him to single handedlywage a war on crime the way billionaire Bruce Wayne does.

No point getting over hyped about it if it does or does not happen. In fact im saying It will be on the same level as TDK....just being realistic about it.

Killing a big hero is a 50/50 it's eiher done right or not done at all. I dont think nolan is up for that big of a gamble.

Killing a big hero is a 50/50 it's eiher done right or not done at all. I dont think nolan is up for that big of a gamble.

Casting "pretty boy", former teen idol Heth Ledger as The Joker was considered a major gamble too...

My main issue if batman does die is that it would be no doubt spoiled for almost everyone beforehand.

I do think the only comic characters who have stayed dead are Frank Castle's family and Morpheus (from Neil Gaiman's 'Sandman' series).

Batman isn't going to die. I think Nolan would like to kill Batman but WB won't let him. The trailer shows the mourning of Batman to give the feeling Gotham is doomed and Bane has taken over. Everyone knows Bane **** **** up, and that's when most I the trailer takes place. Bane is going to remove Batman from the equation for a good amount of time just like he did in the comics. Batman will not exists for almost a year and Bane ruins Gotham. After Bruce Wayne recovers he is going to find Ra's Al Ghoul and meet Talia. This will give Bruce Waybe the will to return to Gotham as Batman. Since you only have one shot at taking out the Bat, he will return and **** Bane up. RyanShazam

See I don't see why WB would be against it.. This is Nolan's final Batman, the next Batman will most definitely not be a sequel to these Batmans.

How did you learn this? It sounds plausible. Anyhow, I think that it will end in one of three ways:

• Batman's/ Bruce's death
• Bruce becomes paraplegic or severely injured and has to stop being Batman
• Batman lives on happily ever after

I think near the end it would look like he died but a few seconds before the movie closes you'll see him rise or something.

• Batman's/ Bruce's death

While it's not explicitly stated that he is Ras Al Ghul in that 'Batman Begins' they pretty much everything but explicitly state it. Maybe in this one they do explicitly state it.

I'm betting he gets his back broken by Bain early in the movie. Eventually he recovers and fights back. That's my guess though. I think you're right, if Nolan was going to kill Batman he wouldn't do it for shock value, but he would NEVER make it seem like such a possibility.

I think that Batman will settle down and have a kid with Catwoman.

I severely doubt they will make an more entries into this series of Batman movies, so death seems a viable option.

No, Bruce Wayne has never died. What you are referring to (Final Crisis #6) where Superman carries "Batman's" dead body after Batman defeats Darkseid. You very clearly see Bruce in the last panel of the very next issue (#7 was the last in the mini series) drawing a bat symbol in a cave after getting sent back to prehistoric times. It was later revealed that the body Superman was holding was one of the army of Batman clones that Darkseid attempted to create, and failed, all the clones were given Bruce's memories, and they all went insane and killed themselves.

Anyone who actually thinks Batman died during Final Crisis read issue #6, freaked out and didn't bother to get #7.

The New 52 makes all of that irrelevant anyway though.

Bane molests Bruce Wayne & makes him dress up like a pink bat and prance around the rooftops of gotham.
