My experience has been most college professors do not insert their political views into their lectures... discussion-based classes will more commonly offer political opinions but they'll always be open to discussion/debate.

Yes, that makes perfect sense, radicalism starts in a place that tries to teach logic and objective learning, not, say, on a show that masquerades as an etnertainment show as a way to deflect objections despite clearly being a platform from which to spread political views that are often radically charged and completely sensational. Statements like that demonstrate the need for universities in the first place.
topgunmv
No. While some Universities try to teach objectively that is far from the norm. Everyone I have known that has gone to college has had a handful of whacked out professors sit up there and preach their political agenda. While every professor isnt like that, there are a lot that do. To reitterate my last post I had a business ethics teacher that used the class to preach Communism. I had an economics teacher tell people if you drove a certain car not to come back. People tend to forget the CU professor that preached in his classes that America was evil and that we deserved 9/11. It isnt any secret that a lot of colleges have a liberal agenda, and thats just an accepted fact...
With that said, to say that they are "re-education" camps is absured, but beck feeds off the attention comments like that gives him.
Honestly, I believe that most intelligent people will not sit there and listen and believe everything that is regurgitated from a professors mouth, and if they do then they really shouldnt be in college, McDonalds would be a better fit. The people that do sit there and believe whatever they are told are just as bad as the hardcore Beck followers.
It's a good argument that the tenure system has to be re-evaluated, I've heard too many cases of students being penalized for the wrong reasons.
Chrypt has a point, but those professors aren't really the norm, at least not in my experience. Beck is being dramatic and hyperbolic for all of the very obvious reasons, but there is some validity in his argument; he just has a poor choice of words, hahahaha. From my experience the amount of that type of atmosphere, of professors (and lecturers, assistants, etc.) espousing their "liberal" agenda or bias, is correlated by college (Arts and Science, Business, Fine Arts...) and department, sometimes in both directions (though more to the left). I don't think it goes quite as far as necessitating re-evaluating the tenure system, I find that lecturers express their bias more than tenured professors anyway.[QUOTE="GreySeal9"][QUOTE="bbkkristian"] Um. Liberals want to grow government in certain areas and shrink it in others. This is true of conservatives as well as much as some of you will hate to admit it.
Your logic in comparing Hitiler Castro and Stalin to liberalism is absurd. Just because their regimes had a tyrannical sort of government structure does not make it in anyway comparable to a liberal's vision of big government, which does not have the same policies whatsoever.
Comparing to unlike things by citing tenuous connections is intellectual dishonesty. Welfare and the healthcare we passed and all that has no resemblance to Hitler and Stalin and Castro. I think you realize this, but you just want to create some sort of cheap dramatic point about big government.

You present a false dichotomy of "large government" versus "small government" (where you present the idea of "large government" as essentially socialist, which our government is not). I know of no liberal who believes "the more government the better." I certainly don't. The comparison to Stalin is invalid because the United States has both public and private industry; not all industry is controlled by the government, nor does the government set quantities of goods which industries must produce. Congress does not try "to control everything." The people waiting in line for food in Russia was due to how food was distributed, not due to welfare. You must realize that the US has a capitalist economy, while the USSR did not. The reference to Hitler is irrelevant; liberals have not tried anything of this form. Our healthcare reform was a set of regulations on industry; it is not government-run healthcare (or even a public option for insurance). So it's not like Castro.

Heh, this is one of the silliest posts I've read on GT. Large government is only one part of the political spectrum. There are HUGE differences between a socialist state and a fascist state, even though they might have equally large governments. Which is why they're on complete opposite sides of the spectrum. Fascism is right wing and socialist/communism is left.Because I have stick to my opinion even more when I go to college. Is there a problem with that? :|[QUOTE="bbkkristian"][QUOTE="GreySeal9"]
