What's made you become a vegetarian ? I think I went through that stage when I was about 16, lasted about 2 days.BambooBanger
Haha. Only two days? Props to you man, I'm too afraid to even try it.
I'm an awful cook so I can't really help you out for recipes, but this company: http://www.seeveggiesdifferently.com/
makes great tasting vegetarian versions of many different meat products so if they sell them in your area I recommend checking it out
Fish is very good for you, I suggest you eat it. It is probably one of the most healthy foods on the planet.

I have reactions to the stuff they put in meat. It isn't serious though I have mild reactions. So I'm switching.
So what are you gonna eat when you are out with your friends? Tofu places...
Meat have things you need, so just eat the healty meats, like fish and chicken.

And buffalo is a much, much healthier substitue for cow. To be honest, buffalo burgers are a little better tasting as well.
All the recipes are vegan, but I'd still recommend http://www.vegcooking.com/. Be sure to focus on nutrients vegetarians may miss out on, such as iron, vitamn B12, and protein (although you shouldn't have as much trouble since you still consume dairy and eggs). Good luck!
Also, keep an eye out for Yves Veggie products. (http://www.yvesveggie.com/) They're extremely easy to cook (they're pre-cooked, after all), they contain similar nutrients to meat, and they taste pretty decent.
haha maddox is the man  anyway, you don't need to become vegetarian, just eat healthyIll sponsor you!!!

No it isn't for a girl. Like I said I have health issues with what they put into meat. It isn't life threatening but it still has small reactions.
So much ignorance and misinformation. Amazing.

Meat doesn't have any nutrients you can't get from elsewhere.
not trying to cause any trouble or anything but from my PERSONAL observations, the vegetarians I know look anything but healthy. Plus they always complain about not having enough energy and constantly feel tired. If it's just for health reasons alone, then I would reconsider. But then again I'm a bit biased since I almost 100% pure carnivore :Paschuhart
From my personal observations most meat-eaters are sweaty, obese lard-arses - and that's not just me over-generalising(!)
Both meat eaters and non-meat eaters can have deficiencies if they aren't eating a varied diet.
As for being a vegetarian - it really isn't very difficult. Ideally you should do some research to familiarise yourself with the protein and nutrients you need to be getting and where you can get them from, but as long as you eat a varied range of fruit, vegetables and pulses you will be fine. As has already been noted: Google is your friend.
Vegetarians have a higher chance of a stroke....cornlockes
No they don't. Stop making things up.
Vegetarians do, however, have a significantly lower risk of heart-disease.

making up stuff is fun. besides. human vegitarians mess up the food web because it puts the as primary consumers with only the worms that eat us in the ground as secondary/decomposers. :P
I'm a vegetarian myself. Been so since birth. My mother cooks all the foods, so I don't have any recipes to share.
But I reccomend buying soy products. Boca, MorningStar. You know, the "Fake-meat" products. They have a strong nutritional value, and taste pretty good. They have soy everything. Soy chicken, nuggests, buffalo wings, turkey, fish..EVERYTHING. So you can eat the same meals, just replace the meat w/ the soy products!
Also buy legumes. Lentils, black peas, pigeon peas...there are so many varieties out there you can't possibly get bored. Eat them w/ brown rice or pasta.
Do research. Some vitamins can only be found in meat. Vitamin B12 is one. Invest in a multivitamin, or just eat the soy products since many are vitamin enriched. (Edit-nevermind, you still take milk, egg, and cheese. You have nothing to worry about in terms of defiencies!)
Becoming vegetarian because it's somehow inherently more healthy is not the best reason to do it (to be honest I don't think there are any good reasons, but hey). Eating a more balanced diet is easier, tastier, and does not place arbitrary restrictions on yourself.
Fish is an excellent low-fat source of protein, for example. Chicken breast is as well. Cut out ground beef and processed meats, maybe, and eat a vegetarian meal once in a while (tempeh is preferable, but marinated extra-firm tofu is okay if it's mixed with a ton of vegetables or in soup), but I'd strongly advise against cutting out meatentirely.
Also makes eating out a lot easier, since the majority of restaurants still only offer you salads or plain pasta as vegetarian alternatives.
Grab a vegetarian cookbook, maybe, and try to convince your family to try a vegetarian meal once a week as an alternative.

It's far easier to get fat as a non-vegetarian simply because there are many more meat products available in fast-food restaurants. If mcDonalds offered nothing but deep-fried tofu patties in place of all their burgers people would be just as fat. It's less that they're eating beef and more that they're idiots.
Probably the most useful thing about becoming a vegetarian is that it forces people to pay more attention to what they eat as their well of nutrients suddenly becomes an awful lot smaller. People should be able to do that without putting a box around themselves, but sometimes it takes a conscious step, I guess.
Then there are people who have no concept of health whether they're vegetarian or not. I have a few friends who can only be described as anemic, skeletal vegetarians because they basically eat nothing but potato chips, rice, and legumes. Stupidity crosses all boundaries. :P

As a vegetarian, there are sacrificies that need to be made. Absolutely. But I'm sure the OP already knows this.
I don't see why you need to convince him to rethink his decision. There are lots of reasons that people become vegetarians. I can't see how anyone can talk world peace with a peice of rib-eye steaks on their plate. Why do you think most meat-eaters feel guilty when they walk in a slaughter house and seeing an animal get killed? Why can't they watch it without squirming or feeling sorry? It's because WRONG actions stimulate GUILT feelings.
Telling him not to cancel out meat in his diet because of not being able to eat much at resteraunts is not legit. That's telling him to be lazy. It's no different from saying "Don't be vegetarian...to much work".
Well I decided to go Vegetarian for the Health Benefits. I'll still eat milk, dairy, and cheese but I won't eat fish or other meats. So I need some advice on some good vegetarian recipes. Also how to become a good cook. My parents say if I want to be a vegetarian I have to cook my own meals. So any advice?Mercury_May2112Don't become a vegetarian! If you do, then your considered a wussy.

He mentioned it was for health reasons, so I figured ethics played no part. Vegetarianism != healthy, but it's impossible to argue ethics just because you can't change anyone's stance in that regard. For my part, I have no issue with slaughterhouses or animal welfare or anything like that - I'm more concerned with food safety, imports, transport, stuff like that. I'd rather eat a chicken that had its head hacked off in my backyard than tofu put together with soybeans that traveled halfway across the world.
Restaurants was only a throwaway comment too, as I have lots of friends in various stages of diet trends and finding places to eat out can be difficult at times. Maybe no moreso than selecting a diet to eat at home, though.
Omg. Veggies. Why can't you understand we were made to eat Vegetables and Meat!AliasUK
Do you know that our bodies were designed to store as much fat as possible in case of a famine? (Dead serious. Our bodies were designed for survival).
So by your logic, should we all go and get fat? I mean, our bodies were made to store fat!! So let's do it!! (Right?)
Ya get the point i'm making.

yes they do! and statistacally speaking you are more likely to have an un-dropped testicle if you become a vegetarian as a child as opposed to a meat eating child whose balls will both drop... that is cold hard fact my friend!:x :P

no thats a very bad point... that is something built into to AID yes AID SURVIVAL... the human body IS (read IS) meant to eat both meat and vegetables... the body is able to cope (read COPE) without one of the two but it is designed to eat both when readily available... coincidentally both are readily available...
