Well behemoth deff have a better singer
Nile have really never had a stedy drummer
just for the alone fact that during nile time with Egyptian influences in there music which i loved but
Behemoth get the nod for me has better plus there from poland and have cool getup concert Suits for extra brownie points
i dont know how behemoths new music can be classified as blackened. i dont know, maybe im too set in my ways but it just dosent seem like black metal to me. their old stuff does but not anymore.H8sMikeMoore
They still have it a bit but nothing like the old days. And The Forests Dream Eternally was one of my favorites of theirs.

Their drummer is now definitely a solid member. Glad to, I don't think anyone has faster feet (or better technique) than Kolias.
[QUOTE="skullkrusher13"]I myself find Nile snooze-worthy

Why is that? Don't like the Egyptian theme?
They're just nothing special imo, the vocals especially, bore me.

Ok, valid argument. I like the vocals for some reason, semi-understandable and fits the Egytian theme. I love the music though, Kolias is one of the best DM has, and the riffs are always very heavy and technical (they're also in one of the best tunings ever, drop A ftw).
Have you heard their latest album? This riff destroys
Behemoth also does these LOTR ROME style intro and outro with there music now with various HOrns and acoustic guitars and equipment
Behemoth front man has also said he never liked his early albums manily the first 2 becasue the production was 90's style meaning raw and no studio Knowledge LOL

Nile, no contest if you couldn't tell from my avatar and sig. BTW, the guy from Origin is faster than Kollias.

I don't think so, it is hard to hear the double bass in Origin's latest though as it's a lot of snair. But no doubt Origin's drummer is amazing.

Nah, he's originally from Mayhem and in pretty much every band it seems these days. He's insanely good on some tracks, most of his work isn't always at high speeds but he has songs that go over 300BPM. I know there used to vids of him doing 345BPM during a drum solo, I just can't seem to find it...Saturos3091
Didn't he kill himself? Or was that another dude from Mayhem.

That was the vocalist, Dead. He died in 1991 and now Attila (who worked on De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas) is their current vocalist. Euronymous took pics of Dead's corpse and they were leaked onto that album, Dawn of the Black Hearts (he himself was later killed by bandmate Varg Vikernes (Burzum)). Just a random BM history note. :P
Hellhammer really is the only "normal" member of the band it seems. I mean...
Saturos3091
haha nice. I knew most of what happened to Mayhem, I just get confused about who killed themselves, the names. Euronymous is one of the coolest names ever by the way heh. Varg get out of jail yet?

Nah, he actually escaped from prison in 2003 I think it was and he was packing some guns, knives, a fake passport and a GPS among other stuff. They caught him and put him back in. He was up for parole back in June but denied and still has 7 years left I think.

No?
I just figured if Necrophagist is boring guitar wankery, Nile is boring guitar wankery with a gimmick.

Nile is not wankery at all, at least compared to Necrophagist. Either you have not listened to a Nile album, or have not listened to a Necrophagist album. You tell me which.

I've only heard Necrophagist's Onset of Putrifaction, and Nile's Annihilation of the Wicked. Both sound like generic technical death metal. So what makes Nile so much better?

Nile has more substance, they have riffs compared to Necrophagist where seemingly the whole song is composed of a giant guitar raping solo. Nile also has guitar raping solos which make them technical death metal, but it's not the whole song. I still like Necrophagist, but they get old after a few listens because of the lack of riffs. It's funny you call them "generic technical death metal" because I didn't know there were that many tech death bands to begin with :P
Nile has been around a long time, and Necrophagist was the first to sound like they did.
