This is my favorite so far, the album sounds like a less pretentious coldplay mixed in with radiohead and david bowie. Their lead singer sounds like a mix between david bowie and peter gabriel. Shame they dont get much attention.

And Elbow is sounding really great, by the way. In fact, much much better then I was thinking they'd be like. They have a unique lead singer. I especially like "The Bones of You" =]criinok
yeah thats a good song, grounds for divorce and The fix are good songs too.

This is by a really good band called under the influence of giants, sounds like an old funk/disco song. It is the only song this year so far that I would have sexual intercorse with or in the background while doing the funky chunky monkey love boogie.

Okay guys, please don't turn this into a musical debate =/ I mean, it was wrong of that guy to start it, but please don't continue it? I'm an avid fan of NIN, so I'd rather not explode =P

Pardon me, sir. It seems I did not understand that on this gaming forum, I needed to use proper punctuation and spelling when writing in random threads. I apologize for such an inconvenience and hope that I can be as educated and literate as you are some day.

That's better, your responses tend to be taken more serious if they can be read.

I liked II a lil' better but it's still as good as albums get.

Yeah most people here listen to that death metal silliness and hate on everything popular.

it doesnt mean its bad but alot of the mainstream bands and singers are pretty bad imo.
Coldplay's new album was decent at best with only a few good tracks that I like anyways.
But as for my favorite album... I'd have to say the EP from Eye Alaska: Yellow & Elephant. Check iTunes for a lil listen. They are a relatively new band and have a pretty sick sound.
Oh yeah and Thrice's Volumes 3 and 4 of The Alchemy Index were pretty sick as well.
Personally, its this, most of my favourite bands have yet to release an album this year, although Oasis will in october
Third - Portishead
Evil Urges - My Morning Jacket
The Bedlam and Goliath - Mars Volta
Colin Meloy Sings Live - Colin Meloy (Decemberists)

film guy, i dl'ed it and wow..it was great..just wanted to say thanks for the suggestion..btw don't blame me for downloading..i couldn't purchase it from where i live .
vampire weekend - vampire weekend
that said coldplays catching it up, and i agree that oasis' album later on this year will take some beating
I'll be sure to check those guys out! I love listening to new people.
But I haven't been up-to-date on the latest albums this year... at ALL. So I'd just have to say 'The Slip' by Nine Inch Nails.
criinok
Ditto, and it was free. As is Reznor which makes it a great time to be a NIN fan.
Well from my taste, so far 2008 has offered me:
Balzac's Hatred: Destruction = Construction.
The Crimson Ghosts' Dead Eyes Can See.
The Other's The Place to Bleed.
Thus far I'm really enjoying the new material by the Other.
They're a german horror punk band to anyone (probably everyone) that doesn't know who they are. I'd recommend their music to anyone who liked Misfits 95', but they're far from their likeness.
