It's been a fantastic year for music in my opinion.
I'd say my top three would be: Dear Hunter - Act III: Life and Death / OSI - Blood / The Devin Townsend Project - Addicted
If I must choose the best, I'd go with Blood
Difficult... It's between Animal Collective, Grizzly Bear and the XX.Salvy41
I like your choices sir – out of those I have a leaning towards the XX, however I fear it'll get a little tiresome before the other 2.
Also I'll throw in Noah and the Whale whom I've enjoyed this year, as well as the new Doves album
I also actually enjoyed the new Keane album, even though it got reasonably butchered in the press.
What a huge disappointment that was. Well, I wasn't really expecting that much, considering that Crisis wasn't a good album.I really want to say Young Cardinals by Alexisonfire, but this album wasn't their best work.

Lots of great albums this year, but my pick is St. Vincent's sophomore effort, Actor. Immediately accessible yet compulsively listenable, undoubtedly the best melodies and guitar work I've heard all year.
Other great albums: Years of Refusal by Morrissey, The Eternal by Sonic Youth and The Golden Spike by Sky Larkin.

Even over their self-titled album and Iron? :o
EDIT: Argh my bad thought this was the best album of the decade thread. :P
That St. Vincent one is the only one I'd call badThere are some pretty bad album covers popping up on this thread :P

I have to go with Black Clouds and Silver Linings, by Dream Theater. Awesome album, and really the only album this year that I like.
