My friend is on Zoloft and it seems to help him, but he acts diferent now. Is there any serious side affects for taking them. I need it for anxiety, i was wondering will they actually work. Some things I need to improve are: talking more, not caring what people think, much clearer and louder voice, and nervousness. All having to do with my anxiety. Would they get rid of these problems?:)

There are always lots of side effects with antidepressants. You probably shouldn't start taking any unless you have serious thoughts of suicide.

In your case, you don't seem to really need antidepressants.

But theres also "Prozac".

Talk to your doctor about it and whats best for you. No one at GS would have any idea.

See a therapist about Social Anxiety. There really isn't a miracle drug to make you overcome it. Although, they sometimes prescribe lorazepam for sudden anxiety attacks.

You need more confidence, not anti depressants. How old are you? If you're old enough to work in a bar then do it. I used to be like that a bit and started working in a bar and Im totally different now. People always look to some form of drug as a way out of things but you need to work these things out yourself. If you're too young for a pub join a team (football, hockey or whatever you're into) and meet new people and you'll soon be talking to everyone you meet and wont be so nervous around new people all the time.

Hey look, see a doctor if you're going through some serious health problems. Its better than resorting to alcohol or drugs.

:o *doesn't know where to begin*  I probably have more experience and knowledge of antidepressants than just about anyone on this forum as I have tried at least 90% of all available meds on the market in every combination imaginable over the past four years. There is no "best" antidepressant. Everyone is different...What works like gold for one individual may have absolutely no effect on someone else. Just as no two people are identical, no two depressions are identical either. Even under the care of the most competant doctor, when trying to find a drug that is right for you it is like throwing darts at a dartboard in the dark. There is no way to predict what will work for you and what won't. That's why so many people suffer for such extensive periods of time...You have to commit to any given antidepressant for a minimum of 5-8 weeks before you would start to notice even the most subtle improvement. Under these circumstances, it can literally take years to find one that works for you as was the case for me. The majority of people actually do not respond adequately to the first drug they try. Hope this helps.

Unless you're a nymphomaniac/sex addict, in which case your having sex is sympamatic of your depression. But yeah, intercourse is a great way to be happy, sure.

I DO NOT reccommend these. Get a job and get yourself a new philosophy on life. That's what it takes. If you have a job, get a better one.
