Minor Threat's cover of The Monkee's (I'm Not Your) Steppin' Stone.mmmd

Have you heard the other DC bands covers of that song? Most of the good ones did it, they're all really cool.

Both covers of Tears For Fears songs, and imo, better than the originals

(Glitchspot wont let me put them in links for some stupid reason)

Hard to pick just one, but some favorites of mine:

Burning Down the House, covered by Tom Jones & The Cardigans (originally by Talking Heads). I never thought I'd like a cover of Talking Heads, since I'm a huge fanboy, but I smile every time I hear this.

Smells Like Teen Spirit, covered by Paul Anka (originally by Nirvana). I would never have thought this could translate to a big band, and I usually find Paul Anka pretty bland, but it works shockingly well.

I Will, covered by Ben Taylor (originally by The Beatles). Nothing to say about this one but that I love it. :)

Hey Jude, covered by Wilson Pickett (originally by The Beatles). Wilson Pickett can do no wrong. His cover of Candy Girl was also fantastic.

Wild Horses, covered by The Sundays (originally by The Rolling Stones). It was a wonderful song, but the Sundays made it heart-rendingly beautiful.

As a bonus, some of the worst covers I can think of:

Eden, covered by Sarah Brightmen (originally by Hooverphonic). It just hurts my brain to hear what was a beautiful, moving trip-hop song turned into opera-lite.

American Pie, covered by Madonna (originally by Don McLean). BLEEEARRRGH.

I could go on, butthinking of Madonna singing American Pie has driven all other thoughts out of my head. :(

I don't know if covering standards is in the same category, but man, good call. If we're including jazz, Kenny Barron's version of Fungii Mama is sick.

The only other I've heard is the Sex Pistol's cover, which is alright.
