Not which one is your favourite or which one sounds best, but which one is the best based on things like:

- How fast can ideas be communicated

- Ideas divided by letters or time to speak them (how long does it take to explain and idea)

- Amount words that are distinguishable from one another as not to cause confusion

- Ability to be relatively easy to learn

- Ability to communicate complex ideas more easily

English is the only language I know well enough, and I think it's good but I'm just curious as to what the best language out there actually is.

Well I'm sure that they weren't all developed at the same time or place, just like spoken languages.

Well, there should be someone who either studied languages or speaks a bunch of them, or perhaps they just happen to know some facts.

Someone told me that each country has different sign language. Is that true? If so, that's the dumbest thing I have ever heard.

There are a lot of misconceptions about sign language, and deaf people in general. Sign languages are different across the world in the same way that all languages are different across the world. Deaf communities created their own languages to communicate with eachother in their own region and isolated from any other deaf communities. The history of deaf people and language is a sad one. In the past, people who could hear would automatically assume that deaf people were also dumb, due to their inability to grasp spoken language. A lot of deaf people were raised without much in the way of education because people assumed they were mentally deficient. Another odd thing people tend to assume is that American Sign Language is somehow similar to English, or that deaf people are simply speaking English with their hands, when the language is structured in a completely different way with a rule set that isn't much like English at all.

Arabic. It's simple, yet detailed in communicating ideas; there are many words that are distinguishable from one another; and it can explain ideas fairly quickly. The only problem is that it's a very difficult language.

Latin...potentially, anyway. It's not exactly easy to learn (which is partly due to the fact that it's considered a "dead" language now), but its depths and complexities are truly endless. It's a truly intriguing language, both to use and to listen to. It's very logical, but it also can be used in the most beautiful ways. Its structure is such that you can omit words or combine certain types of words and the sentence will still make sense. It's really just a beautiful language. I adore it. It's not really logical to expect people to learn the language these days, though, and I suppose 'nominating' it for the best language is a bit silly, but I really think that it is.

I can't offhand remember exactly where I read this, but I read that most professionals rely on English, as that's where most of the medical and technological words are.

For me, Tagalog. Not because it's my native language, but it's based on your criteria you provided.
