[QUOTE="LZ71"]The best? Oh I don't know....too many amazing movies to pick one as "the best." My favorite, however, is easier to pick. The Longest Day.Jazz_FanHow is the list I gave ya going? :P Still working through it, sadly. I've been having trouble finding some of the movies, but the ones I have watched, were great.
The best movie ever made is this. There's no debate required and needed. It is just the best ever. :D

Of course, how could I forget this amazing film? I'm changing my answer to this, as should any self-respecting movie fan. :x
It has something for everyone and it's a holiday film. Even has a cute baby in it and a young couple.

Do you not get HBO? I get it, but I have plans that entire week. That sucks. It will most likely end up On Demand.[QUOTE="sammyjenkis898"][QUOTE="LZ71"] Yep. Agreed, March can't come soon enough. I'm just hoping that I'll be able to watch it on it's premiere.LZ71
Best Movies:
1. Matrix
2. Princess Mononoke
3. Nausicaa & The Valley of the Wind
4. Couple others that I'm to lazy to name.
Pulp Fiction. The non-linear narrative holds up better on repeat viewings than any other movie I've seen.

Well I suppose I can't argue with that it is one of the best independent films ever made and it has just the right amount of campiness Also for those who don't look at the frst topic in a thread (I know you are there) 2001 ASO is leading now with 7 votes.....I think please count for me I know I just messed up somewhere.[QUOTE="Crimtmp"]Old Boy rocked man, the ending made me cringe :DI cant really say BEST movie ever made but my top 10 is

Oldboy
City of God
There Will Be Blood
Borat
T2

Watched it with my two best friends, none of us had seen it. When the end came we were liek "WHAT!?!?!?! NOOOOO NOOOOO!!!! AWESSSOMMMMEEEE"
Some really good mentions here.
Recent favorites:
Moon - The writing was flawless and Sam Rockwell is always awesome.
Zombieland - Probably the most tick satisfying movie to watch since Pulp Fiction. Easily the coolest title/ intro sequence I've ever seen.
The Invention of Lying - Amazing concept and execution for a story with some great actors.
The Fantastic Mr. Fox - This movie is fantastic win. I went to go see it in theatres twice.
Coraline - I'm a stop motion animation junkie. Made super 8 and 16mm flicks since 6th grade. This is a beautiful movie.
The Dark Night - I saw this one twice in the theatres as well. I was told by several people at different times that if I went insane, I would fit the bill of the joker in this movie. I don't know if I should take that as a compliment or not.
All time favorites in no particular order:
Donnie Darko - This movie was the writer's first film and almost didn't make it into any production until Drew Barrymore picked the story up and decided to produce it herself.
The Crow - Jo Barr's comic done right. I could care less about any of the sequels.
Fight Club - Chuck Palahniuk always writes great stories. If you liked this and you like Sam Rockwell, you need to see Choke
Ghostbusters - This may just be the best movie ever made. If in doubt, think about how many times you've quoted it and where we'd be without it.
The Animation Show collection1, 2 and 3 - This is a collection of independent animation that Mike Judge and Don Hertzfeldt put together, including some of their own.
Another State of Mind - Documentary of a failed tour and punk rock subculture at it's best.
The Nightmare Before Christmas - It may be overhyped by goth kids that frequent Hot Topic, but this is a wonderful story and has noteworthy execution.
Metropolis - It's a shame that footage was lost/ destroyed from this silent film, but it had the biggest budget of any silent movie ever made by a long haul. This was science fiction, back when there was no such thing. The concept of robots wasn't even well known. The premise surrounds a "machine woman". If you think about it, this is mind blowing. You would go see a film showing after dinner in formal attire with a full orchestra playing durring the show. This was an event. This is probably the most visually striking movie I can think of. Epic doesn't cover it.
Stuff you may have not seen, but should -
Love Liza - This is my favorite of Philip Seymour Hoffman's roles. Comic/ Tragedy about a guy who goes nuts after losing his wife.
The Sandman (animation) - Paul Berry's puppetry animation. He worked hand in hand with Tim Burton and Henry Selick on the set of the Nightmare Before Christmas and on the set of James and the Giant Peach. This is a grim short story about how the sandman puts children to sleep. I recently spotted the puppet from this that depicts the child on a Puff's Tissues commercial.
He Was a Quiet Man - Christian Slater is a guy who almost goes postal in his office building with a gun, when someone beats him to it.
The Science of Sleep - Michel Gondry's really cool surrealistic story of a kid moving to france back from mexico, whohas llucid dreams/ blurrs the lines between his dreams and his life. Has some cool stop motion animation. Gael Garcia Bernal and Charlotte Gainsbourg are good in this.
Plan 9 From Outerspace and Glen or Glenda - Ed Wood at his finest. Cardboard gravestones being kicked over, horrible scriptingand ironically Bella Lugossi's last footage ever taken in a very short segment atthe beginning of Plan 9. Glen or Glenda = cross dressing Ed Wood (who was a cross dresser) addressing issues that are way ahead of his time. Really cheesy, but actually quite interesting.
