That is the correct answer:D

Film-Guy

I was saying to myself, "No way is this movie going to be as good as Meet the Spartans" Boy was I surprised.

It is indeed a true masterpiece that people will love and remember for years to come.

I bet the director's next masterpiece will surpass it.

Seriously. Every movie of their's surprises me with its unbelievable quality.

Not in any particular order:

No Country for Old Men

Mystic River

The Pianist

Good Night, and Good Luck

Brokeback Mountain

Pan's Labrynth

...other than that, I would have to think about it.

Film-Guy

Forgot about Good Night and Good Luck, I really enjoyed that film.

I'm still mad that Crash won Best Picture over Good Night, and Good Luck... one of the Academy's screw-ups (admittedly, not as bad as 1998, when Shakespeare in Love won over Saving Private Ryan).

Meh I am not hugely fond of Saving Private Ryan or Shakespeare in love, Crash though is really overrated and the Oscars should have chosen a better film for best picture.

1. Werckmeister Harmonies (that scene in the hospital is so hauntingly beautiful, there are no words)

2. Oldboy (I wouldn't put this so high now, but it basically got me interested in foreign cinema and had a huge impact on me when I first saw it)

3. City of God (I am never traveling to Rio if I can avoid it)

4. Syndromes and a Century (I want to travel to Thailand)

5. The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (just really good)

6. Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter...and Spring (a beautiful exercise in minimal dialogue)

7. I'm A Cyborg, But That's Ok (the best romantic comedy I've ever seen)

8. The Lives of Others (funny how obsessions can change things)

9. Wall-E (possibly the best animated film this decade)

10. Shaun of the Dead (best use of long take in a comedy, plus zombies)

In no particular order, by the way I'm just going to count Hollywood films because some of the foreign films I watched and loved people have never heard of and it makes it harder to pick ten so if I just look at Hollywood it closes the spectrum a fair bit :P

Munich

All three Lord of the Rings I'm them as counting as one

Brokeback Mountain

The Iron Giant

Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire

Casino Royale

Letters from Iwo Jima

The Dark Knight

The Aviator

There's Something about Mary

Its a very good film, I like it more than Gangs of New York, but it's also a very safe film. It doesn't do a whole lot to seperate itself from other films of that nature and it doesn't take very many risks. It's strengths rest on DiCaprios performance and a strong plot. Its alot more traditional than Gangs, unfortunatly theres not much there that makes people say "hey thats a Scosese film" but i'd still probably put it in my top 50-60 of the decade.

I don't think I can list the best 10 so I will just list some I like such as bourne identity, 300, dark knight, iron man, I know what you did last summer, gladiator, black hawk down, fifth element, chronicles of riddick (need a new one to the series), three kings, Shooter, casino royale, saving private ryan, and alpah dog. Thats about all I can think of but I'm sure there is more.

He gets pretty damn skinny in Rescue Dawn, too. How he went from The Machinist to Batman Begins is beyond me. Anyway, :

City of God
Almost Famous
Pan's Labyrinth
No Country for Old Men
Gone Baby Gone
Michael Clayton
The Departed
The Dark Knight
Zodiac
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring

HM - Lives of Others, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, Sin City, Gangs of New York, Oldboy, Minority Report, Snatch, The Prestige, 3:10 To Yuma, The Assassination of Jesse James.

Out of that list, I've only seen number 4.
