Which nation do you think has the best folk music, or "national" music.

I really enjoy bagpipes and fiddles, makes me feel patriotic,

but nothing brings out the sailor in me like the Norwegian fiddle (Excusing these guys)

I'd think it more to be more like Bluegrass if that makes sense. I used to live in Virginia and my neighbor had sliced fingers and a banjo that made me smile when I saw him heavily drinking and pickin' nickel.

The only folk music I'm really familiar with is U.S. folk music, so I'll go with that.

actually, since the original question was regarding folk or national music, really the only music in the united states that came solely from our soil with no influences from anywhere is jazz. this is the only musical style that has ever been one hundred percent born from the US, and country is so steeped in blues, which is also steeped in jazz, that really country was just a derivative of the blues culture, now there has been some debate as to whether blues influenced the creation of jazz or vice versa, but country, rock and roll all came from blues, which once again is believed to have been influenced by early jazz, so if you wanna get technical, jazz is the music purely bred in the good old us of a.......
