Firefly. It may have only had 14 episodes, but each of those episodes is one of the best pieces of television that you will ever watch.

MetroidPrimePwn

Out of Gas is godly.

StarWars is a joke.

They stole all of thier Ideas From Frank Herbert's Dune, the all time best Science Fiction series.

This is stupid, the Best Scifi is found in books

No it shouldn't have. The last two seasons were garbage and the reveals/closures were lazy writing. "God did it all"? Please. RDM tried to mix spirituality, hard sci-fi, and current events and FAILED MISERABLY.

What are you ranting on about? Star Wars took it's inspiration from old serials like Flash Gordon, not Dune :?

Why is Riddick up there anyway? The only decent film in the series was Pitch Black, though Escape From Butcher Bay and Assault On Dark Athena are both pretty great. It's certainly not up there with the Sci-Fi greats though, that's just silly.

Anyway, if we cut out the dire AVP movies, I'll go with the Alien series. Alien and Aliens are classics, Alien 3 was pretty good and Resurrection was an enjoyable enough popcorn flick.

Babylon 5 is in my opinion has not been rivalled since although BSG gave it a good run for it's money as far as the writing goes although BSG's final season was average at best. SG-1 is another favorite but it ran out of steam in seasons 9 and 10. Altantis was good also but that's been canned too, perhaps before it's time.

Cheers :)

No it shouldn't have. The last two seasons were garbage and the reveals/closures were lazy writing. "God did it all"? Please. RDM tried to mix spirituality, hard sci-fi, and current events and FAILED MISERABLY.

You fail miserably. He made the best ending battlestar galactica could have gotten. Spirituality and god was always a part of the show right from the beginning. There was no way to explain all these seemingly coïncidential but planned events without resorting to some higher being. Star trek did it with the Q's, stargate did it with the ascended ancients, BSG just called it god instead of explaining it was some sort of ascended life form. The colonials were our ancestors, apollo, hera the greek gods, the missing link. It all fit, too bad you don't see it.

Cry much? I didn't agree with what you said the first time, you didn't have to say it 3 times. They could explain the events if they would have just budgeted the time to do it, but they were running out of episodes and writing the episodes on the fly, so they used a catch-all deus ex machina to tie up all the loose ends they either forgot about or ran out of time to explain. If "God" was as fleshed out as the Q's or the Ancients and its guiding hand was concretely shown throughout the series, then it would be acceptable. However, here it was shown at the very end in a matter of factly manner. It was inefficient and lazy writing, and too bad you don't see that.

umm, Stargate?? Or battlestar Galactica both series are great. Even though I like all the choices up there, those are my favorite.

Between these choices, Star Trek by a mile. Next Generation and Deep Space 9 alone demolish the rest of these, and then there's the movies. The other series are just icing on the cake, really.
