Also, Win Butler(and the Arcade Fire folk) is pretty excellent.

Springsteen needs mentioning too. His songs are excellent and his lyrics are incredibly human.

I thought he welsh? Close enough, He kinda reminds me of a mix between Beck and Damon Albarn from blur. I like his wacky songs and how most of of the stuff he does sounds unique. Have you heard of his new project Neon Neon? Its an 80s style synth pop group, check out youtube to see some of their stuff.
