Only people from Texas, would say Texas
...or people that want an economy that is more recession resilient than the rest of the nation, no state tax, a balanced state budget (which could be the cause of next possible economic collapse [as seen on 60 minutes]), and a good climateTexas -one of the better employment rates, good economy (one of the least affected states during the recent downturn), no state tax -good climate (except for this week) -crime rate depends on city (from almost none to a lot) -tornadoes in the north, hurricanes along the gulf...but not much in the middle -beautiful scenery in the hill country -...it's Texasrawsavon
Better you than me getting that snow. While still cold here and some places got a little bit of snow to the north of me, we are just getting rained on. The real irony is that Atlanta got ragged on for the ice storm that hit during the Super Bowl in 2000 and had lost the bid for the 2009 SB because of it. Now Dallas is in that same position or worse. Karma always comes around to bite someone in the rear. Play the bloody game in the weather as football should no matter what. Domed stadiums are for sissies (and yes, that includes Atlanta).

Colorado. Four seasons, more days of sunshine per year than any other state. Scenic mountains. low crime rate. Plus I'm here, so that really adds to the state as well.
North Dakota is a f***ing beast. This thought came to mind during one of my morning classes today, actually.
It's not for the WEAK-MINDED or THIN-SKINNED folk, however, due to its very harsh and trying climate!
There is next to no crime, it's very clean, the quality of living is high, the economy is fantastic, the unemployment rate is the lowest in the country, its scenery is beautiful, its citizens are friendly and intelligent, the cost of living is low, it's a large state with varied terrain, beastly agriculture, etc.
On the flip side, binge drinking is high, suicide rates are high, the climate is difficult (long, bitter winters; hot summers; flooding in eastern ND), and some call it "BORING."
BUT MAN...there's no place like North Dakota!
=D
Nah, I've lived and was actually born elsewhere, but Texas really is an overall nice place to live. Obviously one city is going to be different from some of the others, it's just a matter of finding which one suits you the most. I guess people might complain about the climate, but I still prefer it over this cold weather as of late.Only people from Texas, would say Texas

Yeah so you can be instantly vaporized when the massive super volcano/caldera goes up in what will be the largest explosion on the surface of the Earth in all of human history.
Dare I say South Dakota? Oh don't you dare! I take great offense! I don't trust those pesky South Dakotans.[QUOTE="t3hrubikscube"]

Well, the best state to live in right now certainly isn't California. An almost 10% sales tax in some areas, a state budget deficit of 28 billion dollars, and a big problem with illegal immigration. I've been on vacation in Montana, Florida, and Kentucky, and all three are alot nicer than California.

They have Rushmore, you guys already lost the prosperity battle. ;)DucksBrainsGood for them. It is a nice sight to see. I went on a road trip there this past summer and it was lovely. However, apart from its location, it doesn't have anything to do with South Dakota.
Living in Canada is always a blast -- they have better public policies.
Another good American state is Massachussetts -- lived there myself for three years. Can't complaint: I love cold weather.
New York, New York is fun, its amazing,WHY? cuz lots of nice things to look at, good places to eat, climate is ok, and as long as you stay away from Harlem or the Bronx, you're good for crime.
P.S. dude above me, Canada is not a state. But Toronto, Canada is pretty cool, got hit by a blizzard yesterday but still

Also stay away from Washington Heights...

I remember the saying in the Air Force.....why not Minot?
They were trying to sell us on being stationed in Minot ND for 5 years. Not many went for that, but I wonder whats its really like there.

Buried in snow now. We have some family friends that were stationed there after his tour was up at Langley. He retired up there with his wife and kids. It sounds as if they liked it up that way. One of their sons had the same name as myself and one other kid in the housing court we lived in. You could almost guarantee that all three of us would answer when a mom called unless you heard your first and middle names together.

Good choice, doesn't it have a high cost of living?
No idea.. never been, but it seems easy to overlook and a popular tourist spot.[QUOTE="AFBrat77"][QUOTE="SolidSnake35"]Hawaii? I heard it's all the rage.SolidSnake35

No idea.. never been, but it seems easy to overlook and a popular tourist spot.Yeah, Hawaii is pretty expensive to live there. I used to run with a group of Hawaiians, and they always said if you want to get anywhere in life, you have to leave the islands.
