Off the books job, stealing, or getting your parents to give you some are 3 viable options that don't really require any skills.
It would certainly be easy to hustle your peers with profitable ventures. Any gambling-related activity could definitely be profitable since most 14 year old's can't quantify edges. If you can you can make money. Same goes for buying desirable items at wholesale prices and reselling them to peers. The latter is probably lame unless you can pull it off correctly though.
yes you can get a job, it's called fast food. a good number of their employees are teenagers. otherwise, call your newspaper and ask if they have any routes available near where you live.XilePrincessDepends on where OP is from but in most locations child labor laws would prevent him from getting any job on the payroll.
Try freelancing: mowing lawns, walking dogs, regurgitating food for the elderly.
Do some work around the house and ask for money even though you shouldn't be getting payed for that. You should be doing it anyway.
Why can't you get a job?Dylan_11His age prevents him from getting most jobs aside from some agricultural ones/newspaper carriers. These jobs are extremely difficult to obtain.
In addition most employers wouldn't want to hire a 14 year old. They're generally immature.

By law it prevents him or is it just a general rule? I got my first job in fast food when I was in grade 9, so around his age. Canada and the US might have different opinions on the matter though.Steal things and sell it. Your parents probably have some jewelry....assuming this isn't to fuel an addiction.KlownMasterI recommended stealing as well but I was half joking and meant from merchants. Not stealing your parents jewelry. Unless your parents are loaded they are going to notice jewelry going missing and will only have one person to blame -- and since OP wouldn't need money if his parents were loaded this is irrelevant.
Don't steal from your parents.
Depends on where OP is from but in most locations child labor laws would prevent him from getting any job on the payroll. Well, canada allows kids to get jobs as early as 12 if they have parental permission. 14 is generally first-job time around here, 80% or so of people I know started working at a fast food restaurant around that age, they can and will hire a 14 year old, I know people who have been working in fast food since they were in 6th or 7th grade. They aren't writing formal letters or anything that really requires maturity, they're flipping burgers and sticking fries in hot grease. If you're immature, you're fired on the spot. there's no shortage of teenagers looking for a job, so they can hire and fire without a second thought.[QUOTE="XilePrincess"]yes you can get a job, it's called fast food. a good number of their employees are teenagers. otherwise, call your newspaper and ask if they have any routes available near where you live.WheresKinggiAt
Well people here are uncreative. There are a lot of things a 14 year old can do. I grew up on a farm, though, so maybe some of these are unrealistic options.
Mowing lawns. See if any of your neighbors or the like would be interested in you mowing their lawns for money.
Babysitting. Not always an option, but maybe neighbors or your parents friends could use a babysitter to watch their kids.
Paper Boy. Delivering newspapers means you have to wake up really early and some jerks will try not to pay you, but it is definitely a possibility.
Dog Walking. Know anyone with a dog? There is always the possibility of being payed to walk dogs or take care of pets while people take trips or work over the summer.
That is only a few of many options.
I made $1500 the summer before I started 7th grade with a lawnmower and a gas can. I'd get my mom to drop me off in a neighborhood in the mornings and I'd just wheel that thing door-to-door.
Old people love kids mowing their yard.

Canada and the US might have different opinions on the matter though. In some cases by law. In others just by the simple fact that you are 14.Either way it's going to be tough to get a job. I mean he can knock on doors but I wouldn't be optimistic. I mean in a day and age where you could put up an ad for a minimum wage job on Craigslist and get a thousand replies in a few hours it's pretty tough for a 14 year old to get a job.
When the oppurtunity arrives, take it. For example, if it snows, gather friends, and offer to clear a driveway for a good price (ideally, a price that's not too cheap or too expensive but just right there). If you're living in a rich neighborhood or have a friend that does, take the oppurtunity there and raise your price.
Of course, you can have a lemonade stand, offer to wash people's cars, help out senior citizens, or learn how to play a musical instrument and go to a city block and play some songs. Or if you're artistic, draw portraits or random drawings to offer to people for a good price, especially if it's populated with tourists.

Don't steal from your parents.
But what if his parents are really horrible parents? But if they are rich for sure steal. If his parents are rich his lifestyle would be such as he wouldn't need money. Even if they gave him limited spending money just his home and possessions alone would curtail any need for a job.I still wouldn't steal. There's only one logical culprit and you'd have to hide any purchases you made. And it would be pretty easy to track anything back to OP unless he sold the items to random passerby or pawn shops and even then it could be tracked back.

I suppose. In Canada it seems like fast food restaurants like to hire kids right around the time they are entering High School so they can usually keep them working there for the entire four years. Those kids will then work at the same restaurant in their new town and come home in the summer and work at their old job again. Vicious cycle it is.Fast food is a horrendous job anyway. I'd rather spend time in high school socializing than flipping burgers. It is demeaning and sucks.
Your parents are supporting you so you won't starve. I'd rather make money through other ventures than have to get a job in fast food. I used gambling ventures.

If OP was destitute and the only means was to support himself was getting a job in fast food then yes I'd suppose he'd have no choice. He's 14 and is supported by his parents -- he doesn't need to get a miserable job. Make money other ways that aren't as demeaning or unenjoyable.
No, it's really not at all exaggeration in the area that I live in. If you get 100 regular young teenagers with jobs together and ask them what they do, give or take a few, 80 out of 100 are going to work in some sort of fast food. Concessions, chain fast food, whatever. Almost every time I go to a fast food place I get an employee who's no older than 15. I'm not stating that the entire world is the way it is in my city, but that is how it is here, the highschools in the area do surveys on this sort of thing for projects in various classes, I've seen the numbers a few different schools in my city have come up with and they're all pretty consistently around that number.80% is a gross exaggeration. If that was the case fast food resturants would be filled with 14 year old employees. Granted I don't frequent these establishments much but there aren't many 14 year olds working in them these days.

Cut grass, deliver flyers, clear driveways, do landscaping (i.e. weeding), babysit. There are a ton of things a 14 year old can do to make money. You may not like it, but you'll have to do it if you want money.

What a big man you are.Isn't making money (and more of it) in an enjoyable fashion preferable to working a horrendous job and still being relatively busto? Not sure what your shot at me is relevant towards but it just basically means you have no retort since you're under the impression the only way a 14-15 year old can make money is by working a job for losers.Mow lawns. Get an old fashion lawn mower that requires no gasoline or oil or anything. It emits zero pollutants and you can mow lawns for $5. If you get 3 in a day that is $15 a day or over $100 a week. And because you will have a lawn mower that doesn't require any natural resources you won't have to keep buying supplies. You can also make all the greenies feel bad about mowing their lawn with a gas lawn mower because you will be more green than them.

We are talking about the TC here and now who is 14 years old. At that age fast food is a perfectly respectable job that he may even come to enjoy. Down the line if he is 30 and still works at McDonald's then maybe we have a problem, but we will cross that bridge when the TC gets to it.[QUOTE="Dylan_11"][QUOTE="WheresKinggiAt"]Pride is more important to me then money.
