Out of all the films that came out on friday that is, but sadly it will probably make tons more. Way to go American, First you made Meet the spartans more popular than Rambo and now this?

Never underestimate the buying power of 7 and 8 year olds. Their parents have to take them which equals double or triple cash. This isn't like "Disaster Movie" where they only got the prepubescents that mowed their neighbor's grass to get money to see it.

Kids movies these days have such bad standardsm disney films in the past were much more substancial than this. Also Watership down is considered a kids movie and it has blood, death etc. Kids are becoming wusses thanks to stupid kids movies that dont teach them anything interesting, they are told by movies like this that animals like little dogs are cute playthings like toys.

I have Watership Down and I keep putting it off.
And yeah these kids movies suck. They used to be great movies even for adults because they had underlying themes that went over the kids heads.. now we have this trash. Nice.

People underestimate kids, they think everything will traumitize them and that they cant handle lifelike situations. I was raised on films like watership down, plague dogs, and I grew up watching Miyazaki films. One of my favorite shows ever, this animated series called the animals of farthing wood, was about these animals who had to flee their forest home that was being destroyed. It still is one of my favorite shows ever because its themes are so timeless. heck it was pretty brutal too. It had mice being impaled, a bird shot and eaten while its mate watches in horror, foxes and other animals mauled left and right with visible blood, and it was a great KIDS show!

Haha.. I didn't grow up watching violent kids shows (well, unless you consider tom v jerry to be violent) but I did grow up watching my parents slaughter animals all the time. And I always helped my mom clean up chickens to prepare them for dinner.
I agree with you. Kids can handle a bit more than what people think.

Tommy and jerry is one of the most violent and disgusting TV shows ever if you think about it.

Stop complaining guys it's just a kid movie anyway it's not like anyone is forcing you to watch this crap(unless your parents make you take your baby sister or brother to see the movie).

You mean like Wall-E?

By the way, this is pathetic. I'm starting to think seven year olds nowadays think: "OMG, a dog. I must go see that!" I was actually probably the same way but still...

You should go into prophecy - talking animals always seem to spawn sequels.

Although I'd rather they see this than have a repeat of my 5 year old brother walk in whilst we were watching the end of Scarface...

You're damn right. I demand the removal of happy-go-p***y programming like Hannah Montanna and virtually seventy-five percent of today's children's "entertainment", and replacing it with the good stuff. Hook your kids on stuff that teaches them to be tough, like Popeye, Dragon Ball Z, and Outlaw Star. Get them on books like The Sword of Truth series. How are we to invest the future of this nation into today's kids when they can't even play dodgeball?

Its not even funny. And the movie is basically racist.

"Look mommie! Its a mexican!"

"Don't get too close honnie, it might turn into a dog and bite you."

As an american speaking about americans, the TV tells us what to do. Don't disobey the TV.

That was my favourite program as well. I remember that there were some very tragic moments that kid's programs nowadays wouldn't dare to show.

On topic, this descent seems to have happened quickly. I can still enjoy The Lion King after a few pints.

Man, Blindness didn't even break the top 10...:(

I hear BHC actually isn't as completely atrocious as the trailer makes it look, but I kind of don't want to believe that.

And I definitely will have to see Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist. It's got great reviews and looks like a good happy movie to see...especially after seeing Blindness, which while good, was incredibly depressing and disturbing.

EDIT: Oh wow, How to Lose Friends and Alienate People BOMBED. That's harsh.

Beverly Hills Chihuahuah is not the worst #1 weekend opener ever. It is still probably better than Battlefield Earth, which opened #1, then quickly died because everyone hated it.
