Just look at him, a sadist who takes pleasure in pain? Is the inspiration of Christopher Nolans joker? The most depraved man to be featured in a movie. Takashi Miike must have been a genius to make this guy so likeable.

2. Snake Plissken

He is Solid Snake according to Hideo Kojima and just look at him. He can wear an eye patch and not look like an outdated pirate. That took balls.

3. Knockout Ned (City of God)

Anyone who has seen City of God knows who I am talking about. The best shot in the Barracks and the only man Lil Ze truly fears.

4. Inspector Harry Callahan (Dirty Harry)

To not put him on this list would be a crime against man

Ripley. Ellen Ripley from the Alien series.

Say what you want about how the series went to hell, Ripley was bad ****ing ass. This mostly occured in Aliens. Yes, in the first movie she was a strong female chacter. But she was scared as hell. In the sequel, she was mad as hell, and out for blood (acid blood). She was angry and pissed off and the voice of reason in that film.

Here's the key point...She just found out that she lost her daughter. Newt was her replacement daughter. Ripley feels guilt over having not lived up to her promise to see her daughter on her 11th birthday, and feels guilt over the pain that she caused her own daughter. Having said that, she then finds a new daughter. And she has now problems with sucking that daughter out into space just to kill the Alien. Ripley blew the airlock. She was 100% prepared to kill EVERYONE on that entire ship, INCLUDING her new replacement daughter. And that is BAD ASS. The movie spent the whole time building up the entire meaning between Ripley and her daughter, and ended with Ripley 100% willing to suck her new daughter out into space just because the Alien has to die. That's cold logic, badass logic, and realistic logic. And that's why Ellen Riupley is the biggest badass of all.

When in a "kill the villain or let the one you love die" situation, how many characters ACTUALLY choose to kill the villain along with the only people who they love?

Riddick was the first one to spring to mind, i'd add ahnold from the 1st termintor to that list as well. he was bad but was half pussifed in the 2nd since he couldn't kill anyone.
