There's no definite cure to cancer, so billions of dollars.

Having lost four close relatives to various cancers I'd have to pick..........the money. Everyone has to die at some point, the money would make my life a lot more enjoyable (as well as be able to take care of my own medical needs) and I don't care about being remembered after I'm gone.
How ironic would it be if, in this hypothetical situation, you were to pass away from cancer. If I do I do. As I said, we all must die at some point. I'm fully aware of my mortality, and fully accept that chances are I'll die of cancer if something else doesn't get me first.
I hear ya. Honestly, live long enough and we all will get SOME FORM of cancer. Just, if given the choice, I'd go with the cure. How ironic would it be if, in this hypothetical situation, you were to pass away from cancer.[QUOTE="YellowOneKinobi"][QUOTE="worlock77"]

So you haven't received any vaccinations nor have taken any medications during lifetime? You'd refuse hospital care if you were injured?

He never said that. He said that life ends, eventually, and that if he ever met an irrefutable end, he'd accept it, not go into denial. Doesn't mean he wouldn't try his best to survive, before giving in. At least that's what he's saying, not sure if he'd act it out when called upon...

It'd only be irrefutable because he chose for it to be, given the original situation.

Yeah, that's totally what I said. Especially in light of my eariler comment about being able to take care of my own medical needs.

My point is that it's naive to think **** sucks, but I gotta die sometime" when you've developed a disease that was entirely preventable, just as it's naive to essentially condemn millions of people to death because, hey, they've got to die sometime too.
Cure cancer. Money would be nice, but I'd rather save lives. What if I were to get cancer later in life? That billion dollars wouldn't do me any good then. The cure would. And plus, I'm sure some money would be made for discovering the cure.

Right, because that's totally what I'm doing. I gotta say, I find the moral high horse amusing in a thread about a completely ridiculious, unrealistic hypothetical.

No moral high horse, I just don't understand your reasoning, but you're obviously taking it personally, so I'll leave it be.

I'm not taking it personally at all (unless by "personally" you mean simply responding to you). My reasoning is that, frankly, were this situation real I probably would be tempted to take the billions. I'm not going to lie about that just to make myself look better to a group on anynomous people on a message board.
And yea, the "condemming millions to death" bit didn't sound moralistic at all.
You also never know, if you take the billion dollars maybe you'll get cancer around 40 and die. God knows with my luck at least I would choose the billions and on my next week find out I have advanced lung cancer.Cure for cancer. Money spans just your lifetime. You would be a national hero and go down in the history books. You'll probably also be just fine for money.
