Maybe because my teacher forced me to annotate pretty much every word in the book. Then we had a major works data sheet for it. Then multiple quizzes, graded class discussions, essays, and a test. School makes reading literature a chore.

Read Ender's Game first.

I'd imagine it's extremely easy to hate HoD if you don't take note of the massive amount of symbolism and imagery loaded in the book. The story just by itself is pretty dull, it's not until you tie everything together that you get something remarkable.

I just finished House of Leaves, and while I found it amazing, I feel I haven't even scratched the surface of the book. I'm currently reading Blindness which is fantastic! :D

I read on average about 150 books a year. I like historical fiction and adventure. I like there to be big plot twists and lots of fighting to keep me reading.

I'm currently reading David Halberstam's "The Best and Brightest." It is an incredibly thorough book about how the Americans got in to Vietnam. For those familiar with Bob Woodward books about recent conflicts such as Iraq, the comparisons are absolutely remarkable, although Halberstam is more comprehensive.

My collection is still pretty small 120 books or so. Recently I read the newest Discworld novel and realized the horrible truth...I have them all. MMM last month I finished reading the Necronomicon a collection of Lovecrafts stories.

120 books is bigger than a lot of peoples collections. Some have none:x (Which is weird because books are great).

At the moment I'm reading the third in the Star War: Legacy of the Force series, it's pretty good. My favourite, though, has to be His Dark Materials, aside from the (crap) film, I loved them.
