Invasion of privacy from peers is one the rise via Facebook. I'd protect your interests and decline the request. He can't legally act upon it. If he gives you grief, tell him you like to keep business and private seperate. Perhaps invite him to go drink with you if you get along with your boss. Or another social activity of course, just spitballing here.

You could always accept it and just be a good boy? I cut down on my swearing and everything in facebook because my nana is my friend, it's not that hard.

It seems you're hosed either way. I wouldn't add him and if he asks about it, tell him you don't check it, as others have suggested.

I think you should either ignore it or change your privacy settings to limit what he can see.

Whatever you do, don't click 'ignore.' He may happen to go back on your profile where it would say, 'Add as Friend' because you ignored the Friend request. So, just leave the request hanging, and ignore it, but don't press ignore! :) Then he will think that you probably don't go on Facebook often and that's why is still says 'awaiting friend confirmation' if he happens to pop on your profile :)

I've been working now for a couple of months in an accountaqncy firm and the other day I added as friend on facebook one of my colleagues, but he must have "friends" with the boss because now i've gotten a friend request from the boss/CEO/head of the whole damn firm. So what do I do, im afraid I might piss him off if I don't accept but on the other hand I don't want him to see any current or future embarassing pictures/wall posts/ comments on my profile because frankly they're none of his business and im afraid it won't look good for my image. What do you guys think?Trooperdx3117

FYI, if you're going for the add, but restrict everything from him. Keepin mind they can see your pictures, so if you do go that route, just put an appropriate picture

Don't accept it... it's an outside work issue, he can't really do anything about it in terms of your job

Be honest with him. Most bosses respect that. Tell him that you don't want to add him on facebook because you value your privacy with what you do outside of work. Do this and bask in the glow of his respect!
