I don't dislike boxing, but I can't say I'm huge into it.
I am however huge into mixed martial arts and kickboxing.
To say that combat sports are so much more boring than basketball, or most other "ball sports" is laughable.
Because you know, seeing constant timeouts, fouls, and trips to the free throw line is THRILLING. I'm not saying that basketball sucks persay, just that it is by no means as exciting asyou make it out to be.
My philosophy is as such: combat sports are the purest form of athletic competition. They're competitions that are pure in that they are only restrained by rules. Games like hockey, basketball, football, etc are completely CREATED by the rules. Combat sports are proving yourself to be the better man by beating your opponent within a set of rules. Conventional sports require a great deal of artifice, as the entire competition is fabricated, it's beating your opponent in a scenario that is entirely artificial and created by rules.
Basically: two men fight each other until one cannot continue. Or a whole mess of guys put on pads, equipment, and uniforms, skate around on man-made ice, and try to use wooden sticks to knock a piece of rubber into a net.
Which one's the purer form of competition?
