I wouldn't say it's murder, but even though the kid could have not killed the man, I think he did the right thing. He saved his mother's life. He just has to live with this for the rest of his life.
Good for him. He had a perfectly good reason to do it. And it's not like he had much chance without a weapon.
Instead of thinking about charging him, they should get him to a psychiatrist so he won't go through any major shock or any other type of mental issues after killing a person.

Thats what I was thinking. Taking a human life can scar you forever, and for this kid, it will.

i don't think the boy was trying to kill him either. in fact, i don't think he was trying to hit him. sounds like he was only trying to scare the man. but then ended up cutting him. then he ended up dying later on.

I know some people will call me bad, but to tell you the truth I dont think I would be scarred if I killed someone I didnt know AND MY REASON WAS JUSTIFIED.

I would've beaten the crap out of him with my fists since it was an old man anyways, but seeing as it's just a kid, I think he chose the most logical way, I don't think he could've saved his mother and himself without taking him out.

No. Protecting innocent people is a perfectly acceptable reason to kill someone.

its a really fine line though... you can't just have a hunch that someone is in danger... you have to be absolutely sure that person is going to harm or kill another...
