its not really the parents fault. sure its odd that he would even bury his head in sand, but his friends were there, so IMO its almost 100% their fault for not being safe and pulling him out. kids are gonna be kids and imitate cartoons and play around. this isnt the first incident where someone has died imitating something else (kid or adult im sure). death happens no matter what the parents do. they could be the most responsible yet the kid dies, and the most irresponsible could also "raise" their kid and see him live past 18+.

The children that held this childs head under the sand should be tried as adults and either executed or permanently placed under the care of the state.
I believe this child was murdered in cold blood by his peers.
First, you can't tell me these children lacked the common sense that once your head is buried in anything, you breathing becomes restricted.
Second, "they though he was joking" when he struggled? When you're dieing like that you give it everything you've got to get out of it. He was being held down, most likely by more than one person, and they must have been trying as hard as they could to hold him down.
