The children that held this childs head under the sand should be tried as adults and either executed or permanently placed under the care of the state.
I believe this child was murdered in cold blood by his peers.
First, you can't tell me these children lacked the common sense that once your head is buried in anything, you breathing becomes restricted.
Second, "they though he was joking" when he struggled? When you're dieing like that you give it everything you've got to get out of it. He was being held down, most likely by more than one person, and they must have been trying as hard as they could to hold him down.

I was just thinking about this kind of stuff last night too. I was remembering about how back in fourth or fifth grade and south park had just come out on TV how big of a controversy it was because parents kept saying how it would encourage kids to kill themselves because they would think that death isn't permanent after watching Kenny come back to life on every episode (which is the most retarded thing I have ever heard and I thought so back then too). Well...I guess there are kids in the world for whom that concern is valid after all. Although, honestly, the gene pool is better off without them. It's kind of like how back 30-40 years ago before people really cared about child safety that all the stupid kids died off before they could reproduce. Now days that doesn't happen and as a result we get grown women who sue fast food resturants because they weren't told that their coffee was hot.

Sorry about my enthuisasm but it's not everyday that you run into someone who has the common sense and reasoning to say something like that. Being that the kid was 10 years old..my god how stupid was he? This is just like that oriental kid who got eaten by a crocodile after he had poked it repeatedly with a stick. Just another one of those "wtf?!" moments. I'm never shocked though to hear anything anymore. I used to be more optomistic and say "There's nobody stupid enough to do this or that." Yet time after time people had proven me wrong and have since changed my view, thus why nothing can shock me anymore. The population of this world is better served without the presence of people who have absolutely no concept of nor appreciation for, their life.

As a father of three kids one of which is this age I cannot see why everyone thinks this is so funny and how the child is stupid. The kid was being exactly that....a kid.....I am sure that most of the people on here did insanely stupid things when they were that age, I know that I did, I do stupid stuff as a grown up all the time. But to call the kid retarded and an idiot is not the right thing, what is wrong with a child being a child. Lorindol

I know kids will be kids, but why many of us call him stupid or retarded is because it's not like this happens alot...we don't have an epidemic of head-burriers, so what this kid did was waaaaay out there in thought. Just about every 10 year old, when it comes to the thought of burying one's head in the sand would never occur to them. Sure alot of kids do stupid things, but there comes a point where they're old enough to know where the line is. 10 years old is plenty old enough to know you need air to live and to bury your head in the sand would take away that air.

Kids will be kids and they will do some stupid things from time to time, like you said and I understand where you're coming from. But where I'm coming from is I'm sick of this stupid stuff happening and then having everything being blamed on a t.v. program or video game and not where it should be placed...on the person who committed the act and on their parents. The kid is 10 afterall, so his parents should've paid a little more attention to what was going on with him. So whenever something like this happens, everytime something like this happens, I hope that it'll be a wake-up call to people...but it never is. People keep pointing fingers, keep overlooking...so all I can do now is laugh, because it's reached the point of being completely ridiculous.

I agree with the point that they blame games and TV needlessly, his parents should have watched him better also. The other kids should have also been smart enough to know that something was wrong, but I think the whole retarded thing is wrong.......... if he was really disabled like that then fine, but he wasn't, he made a stupid mistake and paid with his life. Kids do stupid things I won't disagree with that, but come on, he was a child who did something stupid while trying to enjoy being a child and living with as much happiness as he could. I just see it as a happy child having fun and ending up in a bad situation........

When I was 10yo I use to dig tunnels with my friend and I knew there was danger in doing that. I knew from right and wrong at that age.

I cant believe these 10yo kids blame a TV show when really they knew what they did was wrong and that's there excuse for what they did.

I can agree with that...in situations like this I try as best I can to see both sides of the question at hand. Totally get your perspective, especially being that you have kids. Best wishes that you teach them better and that they take better care to avoid stupid things like this. There's some things that you just can't control, but things like this are completely avoidable. I definitely respect how you handled the response I gave, if I came off as argumentative, sorry.
