so i invited my friends over for my bday, and we had a blast. beer was kinda nasty but i dealt with it (I had three). for a light weight, i really loved the smirnoff ice(two bottles). i also drank 2 vodka shots.

it was fun yah know? everyone was loosened up, having fun. one of my friends got woozy and gave us all a laugh.

i always thought that people who drank alcohol were irresponsible, and what not, but man i was wrong, it was a really fun experience.

any if you had same experiences?

getting a little drunk is nothing to be ashamed of. I used to be really quiet at a party but when I get some shots in me I notice I definitely open up more to different people and it keeps me loose. You just gotta know what your limits are and make sure you get someone who isn't drunk to drive you home

happy u had a good time lonewolf... the inevidable will come soon, actually you might want to have the experience sooner rather than later, which is.. your first drunk vomit.. its a horrible experience but one you need to have, especially if u dont want to embarrass yourself at a big party. i had mine after 7 beers and 6 shots.. pretty much.. you learn your tolerance level that night. so make sure you count how many you drink, try to keep it to 1 drink only ( dont mix) .. and from then on, always stay 1-2 drinks under that, and remember the golden rule when you mix drinks... assume you had 1 -2 more doses when you mix.. since you become volitile.

I used to be like that.

I was completely against Alcohol, I hated what it made people do, and how it makes you lose control and the stuff smelled and tasted horrible.

But then one day having a couple of beers with mates while playing FIFA, Instantly It dawned on me the appeal and the value of this drink. Only idiots abuse the stuff, when it's drunk casually and at social occasions, it just loosens you up. You are still in complete control of your actions, you just feel more inclined to laugh and be open with people. It's a great feeling. However, I must say, I have seen people binge (especially on Vodka) and it ain't pretty. DO NOT BINGE. Just down a couple of beers and you will be lightly buzzed, instead of getting peer-pressured into taking shots and throwing up.

Personally, I love being the only or one of the few sober people at any party. When someone messes up and doesn't remember the next morning, reality bites you in the face.

Its all fun and games until you get to college and are partying with people you've never met before. To fit in with them you drink waaaay too much and end up with alcohol poisoning. As you are on the floor barely conscious you feel someone kicking you and saying, "He's only 18 we have to get him out of here we can get in major trouble." So they carry you outside and lay you down in the grass because, "Its cooler out here, he'll be fine let's go." Somehow you make it home and survive the ordeal but are sick for 3 days while the alcohol passes through your system. Can't eat a thing without throwing up. Alcohol is a blast let me tell you, I haven't been drunk since.

I'm not drinking alcohol and I don't plan to, but I don't mind other people that drink it, despite nasty breath, they're kinda funny.

It's okay to drink a couple of glasses and loosen up a bit, but please don't go overboard.

those are just in the movies. alchohal can loosen peopel who are otherwise quite boring. it helps people get out of their shell as wellBayAreaX
Tell that to the parents who's kids were killed by drunk drivers or the police officers who have to deal with drunken people day after day. I don't think they would agree it's "just in the movies."

The last 5 or so times I got wasted were very depressing after I crashed, partly due to not eating or drinking that day as a cost-cutting measure on expensive drinks.

Same. My parents gave me a sip of beer when I was 12 just to show me what tasted like. Suffice to say it tasted nasty and every time I think about beer that taste comes back as a reminder. Of course thats not the only reason I'm passing up on the stuff; I don't need it, Not the most healthy thing for you, 1 beer would probably be way to much for me anyway and finally I've just had bad experiences with people and alcohol.

I can't drink anymore. Everytime I do I end up way too drunk, which is my fault, but I've realized I would be better off just not drinking in the first place.

I just smoke instead.

Don't judge before you know what you're judging. GS OT would be a much better place if people actually took the time and found out about stuff. Still, it's great to see someone admit they were wrong. Gratz on your birthday by the way.

I think i was 14 or 15 when i got drunk first time. Had quite a blast until i passed out :P But yes i do find drinking enjoyable and it gets more and more enjoyable the more you drink because you will learn how much your body can handle alchohol and what kind of alchohol and drinks you actually like. Still I only get drunk maybe once in a month if even that.

The most drunk I got was at a party. I was mixing all kinds of stuff and eventually threw up, but I had a pretty good time and didn't have a hangover the next day. Really though, I like to drink moderate amounts. Enough to get a nice happy buzz, but not crazy drunk. I don't find getting really drunk all that fun. EDIT: I think I'm gonna drink a lot more when I come of age and it's more available to me.

When it happened to me, it wasn't bad really. Everyone there was drunk out of their minds except my aunt and grandma and I was hazy enough to feel like it was a dream sort of. I don't even think I really knew that it actually happened until an hour or so after.

I greatly dislike people who blindly judge something they've never tried before. You can drink and have lots of fun, you just need to be responsible.

Well I am glad that your friends were responsible but kids I spent time with in Senior week are not. The girls were all slutty up there and the place I was at got trashed, I am most likely not getting my deposit back because of something I didn't do. On a sidenote, I enjoy drinking Captain Morgan. Coke and Rum.

This is pretty much it. Binge drinking isn't fun. It doesn't make you feel good and if you blackout, it loses what little meaning it had to begin with.

A good way to avoid getting a hangover is to drink water before you go to bed. It's just not always easy to remember to do that if you're not thinking clearly.

You can drink without getting drunk, I have a bottle of cider every friday to unwind. Doesn't mean I have to go overboard and buy another 3 bottles to get smashed.

I am should definately not be drinking anymore, if I got caught in public being even slightly irresponsible, I am kicked out of the Army for good. Or at least thats how the rules would change by the time I picked up a vodka. But yeah, in my younger days, I lived in a little village right by the water, so we'd go out on a boat, and one of us would drink just a little less to get us back to the docks. It was real funny, we would enjoy ourselves.

reading all these replies i feel kinda outplace... i started at 13, heaviest drinking (approx 2 or 3 750mls of hard among 3 or 4 mates once or twice a week) at 14, and flat out what is probably considered alcoholic drinking since then . Ive blacked out enough times to not be able to count them and have had an absolute blast for most of it. despite the occasional headache and "im sorry" I wouldnt take it back...

--

Despite that Ive never had an issue balancing other aspects of my life. In a fantastic uni, great friends, gf, sports,e.t.c. It is about knowing your level (no need to puke, no need to rely) but you only live once and id honestly recommend anyone to have a couple friends over and to mix up a couple drinks.

--

To those that say you dont like it, thats entirely understandable, but like many things appreciation of taste will come with time. And if you ever want to ease that transition than mix up a couple drinks (i mean not just base+mix, but something like a blue lagoon, shanghi sling or something)

--

Also clubs are for the most part quite a bore without at least a couple drinks in you
