I anit did nothin to em, but count this money..Tjeremiah1988I hop up out dat bead and turn my swag ooooooooon looked in the mirror and said wasuuuuup yeahhhhhhh yeahhhhhhh!
Haha "he had no career" says the gamespot members who've never been dancing to understand the purpose of his music to begin with. "Why can't he write thought provoking songs?" Because you don't party with those songs. Not that you all would know that.fatzebra
No, he has no career.
He is riding a wave of undeserved popularity. His has little to no actual lyrical talent. He puts a track on, and says a series of nonsensical things with, albeit not to me, catchy hook that gets morons dancing.
So you know.
I do dance (I would work the **** out of anybody at any party) - and those stupid ass dances (Soulja Boi, Batman, Jerk, Stanky Leg) are the reason that Hip Hop/Rap are laughed at by the artistic community.
And tell me what purpose does his music serve? To get people to dance? If you say that....you fail. There are far better songs to dance to.
If he is going to call himself an artist he needs to act, perform, and compose like one. Hell, Snoop is a legendary artist, not often thought of as the best lyrically, especially recently, but he has managed to make great, count it, GREAT dance songs that contained lyrical prowess.
If he does, thank the gods!!!! One less pathetic excuse for a musician poluting the industry:DDarth-Caedushe creates his own music, dances, etc and is a huge success. He does what he wants, why cant people also accept others like his song? OT and there rock heads
Lol. I like how you said GOOD music then you say Metal take over lol.:lol:This is a step in the right direction, maybe one day all shall listen to good music. The metal takeover begins now!

He needs to apologize to the people who write his checks. Referring to them as c-words could negatively impact his financial situation.
sig has potential
he made more than one song but one that stood out and was a HUGE hit and that was "Superman." Many clown Souljaboy but forget the records he set and basically everyone was doing his dance ranging from cheerleaders to senior citizens.Didn't he only make like one song?

that is debatable when talking about Souljaboy, many do infact like his songs. The fact is, many clown him because they dislike his music, but forget hes a success, has set records, and did this before the age of 20.[QUOTE="clayron"][QUOTE="Tjeremiah1988"]he made more than one song but one that stood out and was a HUGE hit and that was "Superman." As much as I hate his music, a small part of me regrets my feelings and thinks that it would be more constructive for someone to mentor him and help him become a better artist. He is only 18, after all. He is just a kid. He doesn't know how stupid he sounds.
After all, everyone on Motown had to go to "charm school" to learn how to carry themselves in front of the camera. Same for Mary J Blige. It is hard to leave the projects behind you, and todays youth in particular have shown pride in their ignorance for so long that he started the game at a loss compared to even some of his older peers in the rap game.
Of course, this protective feeling in me is largely because of me being a black man myself. Others may or may not understand.
(but make no mistake, I think his music is God awful. Makes my head hurt.)
Thank goodness. That man is the face of theterrible music in the industry today. Now we just need Lil Wayne to go away and we'd really be set.

That was in defense to many saying he is trash and is a worthless POS. Its silly people make death threats, hacks his myspace and email to send nasty letters to his family because they dislike him because of his music. And no, people do not have to like him, just that, here in OT, anything that isnt rock, gets dissed to no end. People can at least give him props for doing what hes doing, instead of trying to bring him down. Look at the Johnas Brothers or Miley, threads are created about them here every month about how they want them to die. Its rather stupid people can hate so much.I'll never understand why people hate him. If you don't like his music (Or anything hiphop related, which I know most of you don't) then don't pay any attention to it. Seriously there are genres that I would never listen to but I wouldn't go around bashing them until they stop doing what they like. I don't even like Soulja Boy so don't go saying I'm defending him because I like his music, because I don't. I just ignore his music. But whatever, if it makes you feel good.
Lil Wayne is making a change ,for the better? Maybe. He also attends college so thats good for him.Thank goodness. That man is the face of theterrible music in the industry today. Now we just need Lil Wayne to go away and we'd really be set.

Its sad to see a young rapper go because of all the hate he gets. I hope he decides to stay in the business and ignore the haters so they can watch his money pile up.
I'd be a happy panda....Thank goodness. That man is the face of theterrible music in the industry today. Now we just need Lil Wayne to go away and we'd really be set.

You being a black man should have no bearing in your feelings towards Soulja Boi. There is really nothing to understand. Like I said before he is riding a wave a popularity, and at some point that wave is going to crash on the rocks and he will truly be no more.
His potential seems limited because of his ignorance, which in turn seems to be self imposed. What has he strived to learn about his apparent craft? What has he attempted to even improve? You admit his music is God-awful, and while that is largely subjective, you could say he likes being in the position he is in. On some level he has to know he does not make good music, just music- there is a big difference ex. Lollipop - popular to the demographic he himself embraces, something I will not address for fear of being moderated. But, you know the particular demographic I am speaking of.
In the long run, without any type of self improvement either personally/mentally or lyrically Soulja Boi will go down in the annuls of Hip Hop History as a glorious no one that shall not be largely remembered for anything other than the "Superman" dance. If he hits a major decline, I guarantee one of two things: 1) Reality Show. 2) He will appear during an awards show years from now as a one trick pony.
