Well, I prefer Brit Rock because its a mix of alternative and rock. They also have their own style of music. Catch, mild yet satisfying.

The rock scene in US is becoming too mainstream and getting a bit boring.

Your thoughts?

Both. But many of my favorite bands are British. Led Zeppelin and the Rolling Stones for example.

I don't really care where music comes from as long as it sounds good. Also, can rock really be generalized as "American" and "British?"

I don't see how you can distinguish the types. Many times the music is one in the same, no matter what country you're talking about.

There is a clear difference between the two. Rock bands in Britain are like Kaiser Chiefs, Oasis etc. In the US, they are more like Green Day, Yellowcard etc. Clearly there is a difference.

That's because you mentioned Britpop bands and pop-punk bands... Two different subgenres. There are bands in America like Oasis and the Kaiser Chiefs, and there are bands in England like Green Day and Yellowcard...

Impossible to distinguish between them, unless you generalize. There are many american rock bands and many british rock bands that you couldn't place. Hell, some american rock bands are super popular in the UK, at least for one or two songs.

Napalm Death is awesome, so ya know what, I just say both, and since I can't vote in polls, then I guess I have that choice this time.

As much as it pains me, the British definately beat us on this. I mean all the great classics are from England, the British Invasion was amazing... I mean don't get me wrong there were some great American rock bands too, but most of them died. Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, most of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Nirvana, the only one that really survived was Aerosmith. Given that a lot of the British acts died or broke up as well. But Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Ozzy Osbourne, Eric Clapton, The Animals, The Rolling Stones. Don't get me wrong, I love American Rock, but the English have got us beat.

I don't really care where music comes from...

I like artists (Rock or not) from both North America and Britain. And honestly, I might like more artists from Canada than either of those, I'm not sure. It doesn't matter to me where artists come from, really.

I'm kind of split. I mostly listen to American alt rock, like Incubus, the Chili Peppers, the Strokes, ect, but there are some damn good Brit rock bands, like Muse, Radiohead, and the Arctic Monkeys.
