This BBC article includes a very brief test---just 10 minutes long---containing 15 sample questions from a test that British schools inflicted on primary school pupils. It was used to decide who would be allowed to enter the prestigious "grammar schools".

How well can you do? Would you have been smart enough to get into grammar school, or would you have ended up in the coal mines? :P

Thats exactly what i said, i got it right becasue the first three words worked lol but i agree.. Dine? Unless its used in a sentence like "Come, let us go dine in the living room" Im guessing rich people had an influence on his test? 10/15 btw

13 isnt wrong. The answer is 47. 16 ->17 is +1, 17 -> 19 is +2, 19 -> 23 is +4, 23 -> 29 is +6, 29 -> 37 is +8, 37 -> 47 is +10

No, the test wasn't for preschoolers. It was for kids making the transition from primary school to high school. I'm guessing that it was administered at the end of grade 7, or thereabouts.

I feel bad that I cheated by reading some of the questions before starting the timer! The web designers should have coded the page so that the questions remained invisible until the countdown started. :(
