Pointless question. Bruce Lee would get picked apart in MMA.
a) He has no ground game and even if he tries developing one he'd still be far behind the best currently.
b) Hard to even know how good Bruce Lee was, there are no written records or video footage of any of his fights and a lot of his "feats" are myths and wildly fabricated.
c) Wing Chun and Jeet Kune Do aren't practical disciplines.
d) He was a movie star.
He would likely get destroyed. MMA has evolved as a sport and most fighters need to work on several aspects of their game.
Get destroyed? Even though he has no ground game, he could develop one. Also, as fast as people say Bruce Lee was, you wouldn't think that would be an advantage? He would likely get destroyed. MMA has evolved as a sport and most fighters need to work on several aspects of their game.

He propably wouldn't stand a chance, not without years of training..and of course even after that he could fight only in the light weight category, as heavier fighters would rip him to shreds.
I thought of an interesting question.todd2rno you didnt im not sure whats worse; that this f***ing question has been asked one more time or the fact that you thought it was an original question
Bruce Lee would get taken down and pounded out just like every other striker. But this is Bruce Lee we're talking about, I'd imagine after countless hours training takedown defence and ground work he would rise to the top. But without this extra training he wouldn't last. I would have loved to have seen him in a boxing match though
i like bruce lee and the whole martial arts thing. but i really don't think he is as good as people make him out to be
[QUOTE="todd2r"]I thought of an interesting question.cheese_game619no you didnt im not sure whats worse; that this f***ing question has been asked one more time or the fact that you thought it was an original question Jesus, calm down buddy. Who shiit in your cornflakes this morning? If the question bothered you, then why did you answer?
You've shown you know nothing about Bruce Lee, yet post like you do. A: He did have a ground game, it was basic and more in term of street defence, but he learned how to grapple by the legendary Judoka Gene LeBell. Give him 6 months to 1 year, and I'm sure with his natural talent for learning, would be able to have a solid understanding of the fundementals of Jiu-Jitsu. B: There are sparring videos and numerous accounts of legit fighters about his skills. C: His style was a style of no style. He started out in his younger years with Wing Chun, before he saw the flaws in limiting yourself. Later in his life and the following book he wrote, you will see him incorporating a lot of other styles, such as western boxing, muay thai, judo and karate. D: So? And Ken Shamrock went to the WWE, cause in back in the 90's the pay of MMA was laughable, and in Bruce Lee's day, there wasn't even something called MMA promotions.Pointless question. OT knows very little about sports in general. There are plenty of one dimensional UFC fighters that are at best semi-successfulwithout a ground game. Spellingiscool
Fixed.
P.S One takedown and it's over without any kind of skills in grappling.

Suggest you look up the 1964 Long Beach International Karate Championships. He was there and did performances prior to being on TV shows and in films.
[QUOTE="cheese_game619"][QUOTE="todd2r"]then why did you answer?todd2ri didnt i simply pointed out how stupid it wasYou responded in my thread did you not? Why do that? Just to be a dicckface? Mission accomplished douche biggalow. because you seemed so excited about asking a question that has been asked a billion times you can probably see an argument about this in the comments of the first youtube video of bruce lee you find in a random search so yeah i was just making sure you knew that the first thing you felt interesting enough to jump on gamespot and post a thread about is old and boring
I think bruce lee would do well in the ufc here is why:
1. Talent ie speed at learning by all accounts he picked up things very fast
2. Physical he was very fast and strong and in good shape
3. Fighting IQ ie he was able to find flaws in diffrent fighting styles and just not blindly follow what he learned
4. He was a very devoted man and hard working
If you have two of these things you can do well in martial arts the only thing is did he have a chin. Also no idea on his mental toughness as many fighters will quit when the going gets tough.
I have seen footage of him lunging at someone with a punch, stopping right at their face, and go back to his starting position before the other person even blinked. I don't really see how someone that fast could lose. And he wasn't just a movie star when he fought it was in the street to survive.
There is a reason that everyone refers to Bruce Lee as the father of MMA, because thats basically what Jeet Kune Do is. Jeet Kune Do is a philosopy, not a style, a philosophy that teaches you to use whatever is most effective in any situation without dealing with set positions or techniques.
The real question should be is that if Bruce Lee was alive and in his prime would he even want to go in UFC? I think he wouldn't want to be around all the roided up d-bags that would constantly be trying to dryhump the crap out of him.

Oh, being a Van Damme fan, I don't doubt that for a micro-second.
im of an older generation that can appreciate the greatness of some times...I agree BL was a great martial artist...no doubt. BUT he wasnt unstopable.Jackie Chan?Jet Li? and sure, even VanDamm might get enough good shots in, to beat him? never know?? Everyone has their weakness..BL fighting is old. Its evolved to another level now. People do things now that make him look like Jerry Lewis..AGAIN, dont forget how much the cenima plays a part in making someone look better than they are. AND his personal reps also talked him up..it was their job.
Dragon: the Bruce Lee story is on Cinemax right now and as I'm watching it, I thought of an interesting question. If Bruce lee was in the prime of his life and he joined the UFC, how successful would he be? Best ever? or would he get killed? UFC has some pretty awesome fighters. todd2rIt would depend on his competition. If Lee joined the UFC today he would need to develop a good ground game. If he joined anything like the UFC back in his day many of his opponents probably would've not had much grappling experience.
Don't get me wrong I'm a HUGE Bruce Lee fan and have seen almost all his movies, but I'd bet money that he wouldn't dominate as much as people put him out to be...I don't think his style would be practical...maybe make a few changes lol idk:P

If you were a real fan you would know he didn't really have a style, he used whatever worked in whatever situation he was in.
