Borat was extremely funny, mainly because Cohen let others make complete asses of themselves (well, he helped them along, but yeah). Bruno was pretty funny, but definitely not as good.chessmaster1989I didn't even bother to see Bruno. Smaller independent films - even at art house cinemas - were not put on because they had Bruno instead. If I give him my money the more chance he'll make a third movie lol :P
It's shock humor. Since the ancient geeks, attacking society's taboos has been a trade mark of comedy. I don't find Chonen's work that funny myself because it isn't shocking to me however I can see why it does for many others.Do you think these two movies starring SACHA BARON CHOHEN are actually funny:P or are they actually rasict:twisted:?! It's censored in Australia anyway.
I saw it yesterday. It follows the same basic story as Borat, and I think it's just as good.
I can't believe Cohen has such huge balls.
Drill Sergeant: Your finger's in my alley!
Brüno: Not yet.

What exactly is racist about the movies? You do realize one of the major ideas of both movies is to show the widespread intolerance, in this case in the US?

They are very funny, especially Borat. It is an excellent comedic film and hilarious. In Bruno I loved when he said to the terrorist your king Osama is kind of like a dirty wizard or a homeless Santa, and the mexican human furniture.

The ghost sex scene was awesome:P
I have only seen Borat but it was funny and yes it was racist but in my mind since you know you are walking in to see a comedy you shouldnt be taking it seriously anyways.
1. They are VERY funny (especially Borat) 2. Racism (at least IMO) requires somebody intending to belittle or degrade others...I do not think that was his intention in doing either movie. -I believe his first goal was to entertain and his second was to talk about stupid stuff/stereotypes/double standards that happen in America (like Angelina Jolie adopting 20 kids from Africa)
Its not really rascist or anti semitic specifically given that Cohen is actually Jewish. Thats how he gets away with it. You can take his humour seriously or realise it is largely satirical. biggest_losermaybe he just says he's jewish when he really isn't
It doesnt have to be racist, nobody said it did, and it all isnt. But some people can find alot of things funny and racism is one of them if used in joke form, so some people take advantage of the fact that not everybody in this world is offendable and alot of people have a very open sense of humor, such as me. I find race jokes funny, but I think all people are equal. Its just comedy. This. I just don't understand how people find those movies so funny. Not funny, crude, and slightly racist.

Borat was created to expose how people are still veryracist. In doing this the character seemed to push what these people are actually like so that people respond with something outrageous and funny. Of course extreme scenes like the "running of the jew" was shown to introduce the extremes that the character would display throughout the rest of the film so with that said it wasn't racist it was the complete opposite it was showing how many people are racist and that was brilliant.
Acertainscene that sent chills down my spine was whereAmericadisplayeda hitler likefashionduring a rodeo.
People cheered as Borat said things like," May we kill every man woman and child in their villages and may George Bush drink their blood "
Another man at the rodeo even encouraged killing homosexuals as part of what America needs to do next.
