Not legally. Brown just signed a bill allowing them to get driver's licenses.

Not legally. Brown just signed a bill allowing them to get driver's licenses.

Have you ever been asked to prove your citizenship or legal resident status when getting your driver's license?

Most places want a birth certificate or other documents showing citizenship such as a passport (needs a birth certificate too) to prove who you are when getting a license the first time.

When I got mine I had to show my birth certificate and another form of ID. When my wife got hers she also had to show her immigration paperwork showing she was in the country legally and her license automatically expired on the last day of her immigration document. This was in Georgia, though.
