This thread is about what sci fi film could beat Star Wars in acombat war. I doubt 2001 could do much against SW.How the **** has no one brought up 2001: A Space Odyssey? Not only is it the best sci-fi movie, it's one of the greatest movie EVER made. Man, OT fails at movies.

Oh. Well my post still stands since people were talking about Sci-Fi movies. >_>
And HAL 9000 would totally shut down the Falcon and Death Star...
Some people in this thread seem to think it's about "whats a better movie" instead of "who would win in a war"... I don't think Starwars can be beat - Jedi with reflexes fast enough to block a lazer, a weapon that can destroy a planet in a couple seconds, armies that can invade an entire planet.alphamale1989
The borg would only have to assimilate a single Jedi. Then the Jedi borg would kill all of the Jedi.
Star Trek.. ? th3warr1orhmm no one has gone the Superhero path yet everyones batlling with ships. That could be interesting. land combat Id have to see. But the D-Star could still blow earth from afar. And star trek this seems to be the major opostion in the fight. So maby I should make a SW vs ST forum. If you guys would post. :)
well yeah thats how 99.9% of scify is written the aouthor says it works so it works. And if someone made a book using "real" science then it wouldn't really be scify it would be a fiction story that take place most likely in space.renigade16No thats why I use the term "hard science" Its been being debated since at least the 60's in the sci-fi genre. Science fiction started as fiction based on speculation on science and technology. Otherwise its not really sci-fi,that how the term space opera was coined, there are all the trapping, but its not science based.

If there was a good Dune movie, then ya, it would beat the crap out of Star Wars.
Unfortunately the 1980s movie was horrible, and the SciFi channel's production of it, while extremely good, didnt have the budget to be a full-blown epic movie.
I'd like to see a four-part film version of all the Dune books, going through Paul's time on Dune (part 1 and 2), to the God Emperor (these could be skipped, however, considering those books had more to do about philosophy than action), up to the conflict of the Bene Geserits and Honored Matres (part 3 and 4). I think that would be simply epic.

the miniseries was quite good. Just approach it as if it werea play than an actual movie.
