Can anyone recommend me a cell phone?

So my parents and I were discussing the possibility of upgrading to smartphones and I think I have them convinced. Currently we all have the LG Env Touch but we have all had problems with the battery and it turning off all the time. Last time my parents almost got smartphones but the mandatory max data plan turned them off. Now Verizon has some new contract offers on 2 year deals so my parents are considering it.

So anyway, I want a phone that has a nice variety of apps (it doesnt have to be the size of the iPhone selection, but I want more than 3 apps available), I want a good internet browser, I want a touch screen and I want a slide out keyboard. I hate those touchscreen keyboards. Also, I don't know how much my parents are willing to spend but they aren't going to want to spend $50 a month for data. So something that isn't the most expensive phone on the market.

Oh, and it has to be available for Verizon.

Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I have an iphone 4 and I like it. Got it partially through work. Never had another smart phone so I dont have anything to compare it to.

Droid 3 is a great phone as is the Evil Empire's iPhone 4s. Currently running the 4s, love the OS and how it handles memory and it's processor is fast. Droid 3 is just as good, albeit different. I adjusted from a Droid k/b to iPhone touch screen quicker than you'd imagine, so I wouldn't let it hamper your decision.

Oh and the new RAZR looks nice, I used to have an OG.

dont wanna sound like a dick, but id say iphone. I am yet to find a android phone that features good gpu acceleraation and optimization. Even the s2 feels choppy at times. Its cuz the android devs dont invest a lot of time into their OS wheras apple does. I know its more expensive but i think the extra is worth it

Go to the iphone and mobile gaming forum, they know a lot about smartphones.

I've traditionally be anti iOS and pro android but recently I bought an iPhone 4s as an impulse buy and I'm glad I did. It is quite impressive. It's super fast and has a nice look. Overall, it is much more refined then previous versions of the iPhone. I have no complaints as of yet except for apples ongoing lack of support for flash media.

You should get yourself a Dynatac! that is if you want to appear a man of great status, taste and culture! all the lil jimmies of today are always talking bout Droids, Ipads, Iphones. Forget those, what you need is one of these! the ladies went crazy over these things, and probably still do

Galaxy S2 is sexy.

Get a smartphone from straight talk. The phone may cost alot but the unlimited plan is only 45 bucks a month!
