"Social contacts and interactions occure disproportionately among individuals who share similar lifestyles."
I read it, but I can't understand it. Can someone tell me what it means in simpler English?

I think its saying that people who share common interests arent always friends or something like that.queenfan66
that's what i got as well
It could also mean the exact opposite. Frattracide
You're right! What the hell is happening here? Something is wrong!
[QUOTE="gomersowner"]Pics or it didn't happen.Fox-samaGet off the bandwagon, kid. If you were a real member of Annonymous, you'd know that that phrase belongs in one place and one place only.
[QUOTE="Fox-sama"][QUOTE="Fox-sama"]What this means is, the people you meet are more likely to have more interests NOT in common with you than the interests they DO have in common. iusm78
that doesn make sense. couldnt it be disproprotionatly less or disprorportionaly more?
It does make sense. For example, say you're playing Halo 3, and you want to limit the people you play against to just those that are around the same level as you. That's proportional, i.e., equal.
What the sentence is saying is that, concerning the people you meet, their interests aren't equal to yours. Therefore, your interests aren't taken into account when you meet someone new.

but i think the proportionate is talken about the social interactions when its like random people vs people have stuffs in common with. then its disproportionatly big or disproportiontly small compared to random peeps.

It's not talking about random people. It's saying that the people you interact with have almost nothing in common with you as opposed to those that do have something in common with you.[QUOTE="iusm78"][QUOTE="Fox-sama"][QUOTE="iusm78"][QUOTE="Fox-sama"][QUOTE="Fox-sama"]What this means is, the people you meet are more likely to have more interests NOT in common with you than the interests they DO have in common. Let me see if I can put this in a different way...Let's say you're with a group of people. More times than not, the topics you talk about will have nothing to do with the lifestyles you have.
Fox-sama
but see thats not true either. when im with my friends were always talken about our lifestyles

But that's where the word 'disproportional' comes in. It's not equal across everyone.Plus, it's not concerning whether you and your friends share the same lifestyle, but rather, the stuff you talk is not equal to the lifestyles you live.
