South Park is just plain good satire, entertaining and funny. I'd also rate King of the Hill right up there with it.

Good man. 8)
It's an Animated sitcom.[QUOTE="NerubianWeaver"][QUOTE="Pirate700"]
South Park isn't a sitcom but it is great.
Pirate700
No it's not. It's an adult comedy. Not a sitcom.
Yes it is. It features recurring characters from the show and it doesn't feature a perennial storyline. What you say is true, but I still prefer Family Guy, because it's EXTREMELY unpredictable, in a predictable way. :P I will always despise The Simpsons though. :xI started watching the first four seasons of the series and I can't remember how many times I laugh at each episode. I mean most of the episodes are really good and it involves controversial topics hence why it's humorous. The plot is often unpredictable and the characters are consistent comparable to other shows. Do you agree? What does OT think of South Park?
NerubianWeaver
You picked the most boring ones in existance, the story is occasionally amusing and controversial sure. But it's just so full of dark humour I just can't get many laughs from it, I mainly watch comedy to remain happy rather then become depressed.South Park is just plain good satire, entertaining and funny. I'd also rate King of the Hill right up there with it.

South Park is a Satire, not a sitcom

no, it's a sitcom. sure it's satirical but how does that stop it from being a sitcom? do i need to post the definition of a sitcom?

There is little to no character development, and no developing story besides an occasional double episode special.
The humor is derived from it making fun of a cultural or news subject, not the characters themself.
Its just satire like Family Guy, that just has recurring characters.

you obviously do not watch south park (don't know why you're commenting on it then), there is character development. no developing story? what does this have to do with sitcoms? did seinfeld have a developing story? no. every episode was a story in itself, just like south park. there is humor derived from the character themselves, i can't even count how many "cartman wants to take over the world" episodes there are. so no, you're wrong.
here's wiki's definition of a sitcom just for you:
"a genre of comedy that features recurring characters (check) in a common environment (check) such as a home or workplace, accompanied with jokes as part of the dialogue (check)."
yep, south park's definitely a sitcom.

Then clearly you take everything way too seriously, which is never healthy. How exactly are they boring?
Who cares if it is a sitcom or not? The show sucks and isn't funny, at all.SF_KiLLaMaN
yep, we're all just imagining its funniness.

Jokes are quite rare when compared to Family Guy and American Dad where almost everything is a joke.[QUOTE="dercoo"]

A satire gets most of the comedy from the jest made at some outside part of culture (often whats in the news)
A sitcom gets its comedy from the characters themselves. King of the Hill is a good example of a great animated sitcom
Family Guy(current form) is what southpark is. A mostly satire of pop culture ideas and news with reused characters
SouthPark is famous for its spoofs of it stuff, making it primarily a satire
The Simpson and Sienfield are better overall. South Park is one of the best cable sitcoms ever though.

Jokes are quite rare when compared to Family Guy and American Dad where almost everything is a joke. There is never any plot in Family Guy, that's why everything can be funny. South Park actually requires an attention span. Family Guy is defiantly stupid and incoherent. I've watched 20 episodes of the show and I just sit there with a blank stare on my face while wondering what sort of person thinks this could possibly be funny.

The Simpsons should have gone off the air at least a decade ago and Seinfeld should never have made it past its pilot.

I've seen three episodes (kind of recently), but it seems like a good show. I don't think they were new episodes though, so who knows about right now?
Not this we. It's not the best sitcom. It's not even the best animated show. But it IS for some people, just not this one.
South Park isn't a sitcom but it is great.
It's an Animated sitcom. Not really. I consider a sitcom like Two and a Half Men, where the show is on a bunch of reoccuring sets with a laughtrack in the background. It may be flawed in defintion, but that's what comes to mind when I hear sitcom. Please Log In to post.
