Since Twilight has actually revived the vampire genre and made it more compelling, complex, and chilling than ever, I think we can all agree that Stephenie Meyer is a genius author who belongs up there with the likes of Bram Stoker, Anne Rice, and Stephen King and probably surpasses all three entirely with her writing that gives amazing yet realistic depth to its characters, both human and supernatural, and creates a mythos to be envied by the rest.

What do you think?

Hey, I'm just saying that Twilight is more refined and interesting, while others like Salem's Lot, Dracula, and Vampire Chronicles are sadly lacking in substance.

No, the writing was horribly written and the biggest 'plot-twist' was given away at the blurb.

Well, if mythical trolls do get introduced in later installments it would definitely shake things up in the Twilight world, just like when we were first introduced to Jacob and werewolves. Good idea, AvatarMan. :)

Agreed. it did nothing but ruin vampires for me. Stephenie Meyer deserves to be shot imo. vampires don't fall in love, they only trick people so they can eat them. THEY DO NOT FALL IN LOVE.

Sure. Almost as much as Disney's "I'm in the band" revolutionized hard rock.

I gotta be honest, I literally lol'd when I read that. Salem's Lot and Dracula are lacking in substance hahaha. You're hilarious. The majority of Twilight's fanbase is young girls, usually middle school to high school age. Most of these girls wouldn't know good literature if you slapped them with it. Twilight got popular because it played on young, hormonal girl's fantasies. It was by no means well written in terms of literature. Admittedly it was written well enough to fulfill it's goal. That was to monopolize on pre-teen girls. Stephanie Meyer does not deserve to be cast in the ranks of Stoker or Stephen King anymore than Justin Beiber can be compared to Paginnini

To me, the Twilight series is a cheesy teen love story hidden beneath some vampire drama.

I remember when I watched Parks and Recreation a couple of weeks ago, there was a middle-aged guy that wanted the Twilight books to be included in the community's time capsule.
