Doesn't sound that bad at all. Not that good, but not that bad. Sounds pretty normal.

1) Maybe Radiography won't be the most fun you ever had in your life (or maybe it is). But if you don't want to continue to study after your degree then it sure as hell beats being a waiter doesn't it? Don't have so high standards. You should be content with a job in Radiography.

2) You're afraid of getting a GF because of children? That's a long way to go man. Get the girl first, then worry about children and divorces and whatnot.

@gamerguru100: Still...at 16 when I started college we were so poor we could only afford to buy rice, we lived in an apartment probably the size of your room, we couldn't even afford hot water so cold showers ftw, I had to walk almost 2 hours to college and 2 hours back everyday because I couldn't afford to take the bus, the books I used were the books other people had thrown in the trash, was physically abused by my parents almost on a daily basis but had nowhere else to go, had to pretty much sell myself as arm candy to a rich old lady (thankfully no sex) in order to pay for my tuition, was just recovering from really severe asthma that would land me in the hospital almost every night, had no friends because my parents would trip and beat me up if they saw me talking to anybody, was studying programming and didn't even have a computer...was writing my code on a notepad (you know, the paper thing, not the software =P), was suffering from severe depression and OCD, then at a point found a job to help me pay for college and I would leave the house at 6 in the morning to work, then straight to school and then sleep for an hour before going to work again.

Do you know what I would have given to have a mother who instead of cracking my head open with a darn cooking pot would have given me a car?

How is it going for you now?

@themajormayor: It's going great, thank you for asking. After 18 or 19 (not sure now) programming diplomas I decided to change careers (I took programming to begin with because my mother wanted me to make "tons of money to give to her" and if I refused to study it she would kick me out) and became a physical therapist. Met the most wonderful Dutch girl, moved to the Netherlands, opened my own company, got married and we're going to start a family. Couldn't have asked for anything more =)

@korvus: I was actually thinking that you must have a pretty high level of resilience to turn stuff around like that, which is pretty impressive.

I have you beat and most people beat in this area to be honest alot of people wished they where you where at believe it or not. But if things don't turn around this year for me by next year they should either I score well enough on the up coming sanitation worker test and actually land that dream job if not I'm off to what ever branch of the military will take me looking to get into the airforce or coast guard as my first picks but there's always the army or marines don't want to live on a boat for months at a time to so no navy for me.

My situation isn't good but I realize it could be much worse I actually have a roof under my head and don't have to worry about where my next meal will come from. I'm young and I'm not mentally or physically disabled and my future actually has hope to improve quite significantly although I how I get to that improved future is limited in options and still a bit resentful of most likely having to go to the military but at least I have that option available to me to improve my life and not just awaiting my death which could happen at any moment in the from of a rocket from the sky just think of those poor people in the gaza strip compared to them I'm in a much much much better place.

Well besides anxiety disorder which I suffered from, where I mentioned it earlier in this thread, it actually doesn't feel like I have it that bad, might actually still have it good. Best of all is I don't really have much for anxiety/sleeping problems at all now.

I'm still a loner, but being a loner can still have its advantages.

Come to think of it, probably 99.5% of this forum has me beat on having it worse...

Thanks for all the kind replies, guys. I think being up at 2AM last night making this thread contributed to such negativity from me. I'm one of those people that can lay in bed all night contemplating all the stupid crap I've done or said and how crappy I perceive life to be (insert scumbag brain meme here).

While I don't have the most awesome life ever, things definitely could be a lot worse. I think part of me is just sad about how different I am from other people my age or in my generation; you know, fitting in.

But whatevs, thanks again, everyone. Hopefully I can remember to look at this thread the next time I'm feeling down. :P

Yes I have you beat by a significant margin. I won't go into detail but beating you in "the loser department" is perhaps my greatest victory in recent memory, enough said. Not to mention I'm a terrible person who doesn't like animals, not even cats and I believe social media is voluntary NSA data collection. Tin foil hat engaged. That said, I'm surprising happy and secure with who and what I am but from an objective point of view I'm loser elite and have no desire to change.

I'm with you there. I'd rather jump in front of a semi truck than be a vegetarian or vegan for life. God, I really don't understand how those people can enjoy life without meat. It's almost like trying to enjoy life without oxygen, except that would kill you in a few minutes, LOL.

@gamerguru100: Life is hard and whoever says differently is either lying or really lucky, but it can always become better if you work at it. You're not in the place you'd like in life? We can all relate (we are either there ourselves or have been there) but you have a solid start and a solid base to work with. You can do this! =D

honestly bro, i dont know what to tell you. i have the same issue as you and having anxiety is one of the worst things ever. i have been dealing with it for 32 years, i hope it doesnt last that long with you. it really is a relationship killer and cost me so many potential girlfriends. some girls from high school who i still see today who seem to be still interested in me but i dont have the courage to ask them out.

the only thing i can tell you is you just have to say to yourself that you are going to change the way you are and do everything in your power to make that change. you cant let your anxiety get the best of you. you have to conquer it. you just have to ask yourself, do you want to keep living like this for the rest of your life? the longer you keep living like this the worser it will get. just free yourself. have a worry free attitude and realize you can do anything you want if you put your mind to it and that noone can hold you back.

@DreamingMind said:

OP, read this and read it well, because it might be one of the most important things in your life.

You can make a career in writing.

Seriously. The opening post was attention-grabbing and very relatable. I believe you've got a talent with words, which might as well mean you're a talented guy on many other areas as well.

Think about it. Do some freelance writing. Look for local magazine writing gigs. Start a journal. Launch a blog.

Then, BAM you're a published author! You can do this!

If not that, at least you're just 22 years old and you've got your mother with you. This means you've got all the time in the world (don't waste a minute of it), and at least another human being who cares about you. You've got work, you're not starving, you can probably manipulate local regulations to get some kind of wellfare to help you on your feet and you've got charisma, yes, charisma, based on how your penmanship.

What you lack? I can't be sure, but perhaps it's self-confidence? I know it's hard to keep it up with all those seemingly fancy people prancing about while you struggle, but think big. In ten years, things might be very different.

he is a pretty good writer. that is one thing i can say college does teach you well, how to write papers properly.

I think it could be great as long as you remember the golden rule of story telling and never let the truth get in the way of a good story. Personal demons for example could become real demons you actually engaged in mortal combat. Then just sign up Michael Bay and let him work his story telling magic.

Personally: I think this is the wrong attitude to adopt. Rather than avoid and deny personal flaws or repress feelings: a person is better off aspiring to be better, using deduction and rationalization to filter out the voices of decent. If a voice of decent is valid: then it is simply an opportunity to better yourself.

In the grand scheme of things: people generally really have very little to be ashamed off. It tends to be inflated by behaviors such as mentioned above.

I like your attitude bro

I'm 23 and life is about making mistakes then learning
