I can, Kinda. In a few dreams I was able to figure out I was dreaming. This dream I had the other day was me Battling this dude from, "I know what you did last summer" the Villain guy with the hook. Anyways while I was running away from him I figured out that I was dreaming, how you say? Well the dream took place at my old house I use to live at when I was a kid, anyways I figured that out and I said to myself in my dream, "this doesn't make any sense, this must be a dream." So while the Hook dude was running after me to kill my ass I went Super Sayain 4 and beat the crap out of him. I have no clue why I thought of DBZ while fighting a horror dude from a fictional movie?

Wow.  Out-of-body experience. I had that once. It felt like my Spirt was leaving my body, got scared and woke up, my spirt just dropped back into me and that woke me up. Weird.

There has been only a single dream in which I "think" I was able to control it. I felt like I was in control but it might have been the dream itself that was making me feel like I was. I would very much like to learn how to lucid dream... I always have such amazing dreams, to be able to control myself consciously in them? That would be fantastic.

Yes, I can control my dreams, anybody can, but it depends entirely on how deep of sleep you're in.

I can control my dreams, I'm pretty sure everyone can, but I'm also pretty sure that if you can control them your not in R.E.M. You cant control REM dreams as far as I know of.

Only once, and it was the most incredible experience. I remember looking down at my hands, which were on fire with blue flames (think Hellboy). I entered a 50s style cafe and took a elevator up to the top of this old Japanese temple. I then did matrix style leaps from one temple to another in a thundering rainstorm, the streets flooded below and the temples stretching out until the horizon. I distinctly remember fearing my knees breaking just before landing after my first leap, and the incredible feeling that came along with the realization that it didn't hurt at all.

By far the best dream I've ever had, and I wish I would have another, ASAP.

No, in fact I had an awful dream last night. I'm moving away next august so I attribute my dream to it. The girl I like right now professed her undying love for me and I knocked her up like a month before i left forcing me to stay. The irony is awful for me.

You can control your dreams, you just have to free your mind.

But you can't control it if the dream is something that has already happened

Lucid dreaming is a skill, a very valuable skill IMO. Should be taught by parents. That said; I've lucid dreamed countless of times, but I find it hard to "control" the dream, I know I'm dreaming, but I can't control anything XD

I more often then not know I'm dreaming, its often stated that once you become self-aware in a sub-conscious state that you immediately gain control but you can actually just sit back and enjoy the ride, its like watching a movie but far more amusing specially if you can do it from that state and manipulate the environment without actually taking over your dreamer identity. More often then not people that they had a out of body experience are actually only experiencing this without even knowing that it was this to begin with ;) Also if you try lucid dreaming and encounter sleep paralysis be fair warned that if you don't realize what it is then your going to be scared, the first time I encountered it was when I was a kid, thought out right someone was in the room shifting to keep out of sight, I could get glimpses here and there but being literally paralyzed I was damn scared, even when I don't realize it now still scares me to death. Although I'll tell you if you've got a goo imagination it kicks most forms of entertainment to the curb.

I should probably try lucid dreaming, it sounds like a blast and true way to "escape from reality" 8 hours a day!

They are quite interesting experiences but they can have side effects if you mind doesn't click right, even though your lucid you have chances where you mind may think something is real to reflect it back at you. Example is people will tell you that you can't feel pain in a dream, its a complete an utter lie in a lucid dream because if you don't have your mind absolutely focused on it being a dream then your going to get hurt if you do something stupid.

Often people will get lost in what they are trying to do and forget they are in a dream, it happens all to often I'm afraid, even people like me that have had this gift since childhood get caught in the trap when we are trying to do things, I had one a few months back now where I got speared through the leg by a demon bone spike while turning diablo series into my dream, it took three days before I could walk properly in real life again because my mind thought it had actually happened.

My wife doesn't let me do it in all honesty because it scares the hell out of her that I can suffer physical pain in the real world from a dream, luckily we aren't in the same country at the moment but back home with her its another story. However if your lucky to realize its a dream just before the event happens you'll be lucky enough to only feel tiggling or numbness where the event occured when you awaken, typically it'll be right after the event because it overloads you senses essentially shocking you out of sleep much like a nightmare climax event.

You're saying that you can actually feel the pain you're experiencing in a dream and didn't just fall out of your bed or something to that effect?

vlin1108

Its very rare to be able to stay in a dream when something like that shocks your system, but for the most part your shocked awake by the sensation and more often then not are left in sleep paralysis and if you aren't then your first reaction normally is the try moving that area or touching it. You never have any physical damage, I have had a nose bleed once from a punch to the face though but I don't know if that was from the dream or just a caution I had since I was a little kid to do with a head injury I suffered as a bub.

Honest if you think thats wierd when in a lucid dream you can actually feel pain on you physical body transferred into your dream state, I've had quite a few muscle spasms in my sleep that have made me do some really hilirious things in the dreams when I've least expected it.

Its most noted in hospital patiences that these types of events can happen.

It would be cool if I could, but I can't. And I always seem to have the same dreams over and over again. They are always boring and meaningless.

Once had a Gmod-esque dream, managed to materialize anything i've thought of, none of them were actually effective though. Still a good dream, anyhow.

You dream 5 times a night while in a state of Rapid. Eye. Movement. In a Lucid dream you can consciously control the events in your dream. Dreams are a metaphorical enactment of your unconscious desires and fears, dreaming is the process in which you liaise conciousness (what you are thinking now) with your unconscious mind (what you think, but most of which your consciousness knows nothing about, making up for 90% of your brain activity). In a Lucid dream, instead of letting the unconscious have its way, you can master your own destiny and probz feel better for it.
