I don't believe that....Apparently Asians have some problem with it...not sure what they use to constitute Asian for the stats...but using stats for the Us........Seems it's a minority...

LJS9502_basic

Actually if you look at the breakdowns on that list you provide you will notice that adults who can digest lactose is only 40%...making them a minority of course.

I'm from Wisconsin so I'm contractually obligated to down at least seven gallons of the stuff per month.

I live in Wisconsin, but I didn't grow up here. I only feel boligated to eat a lot of cheese, brats, fried fish and drink lots of beer.

As long as you hang teddie bears when those FIBs come to town, you're a-okay.

It's actually racial. And if there were a boom in Caucasian babies then the lactose tolerance goes up. But Caucasians tend to have less children now.....then again that gives them more discretionary income.:P

Yahhrr 'tis true, the Asians 'round the world do tend to push the stats concerning lactose into the negative with their overwhelming issues concerning the process. It is a beneficial mutation though and it wouldn't surprise me if, due to a homogenization of a world-wide diet that has been occurring, that perhaps their intolerance for it would decrease and lactase persistant folks could finally be happy with the fact that they would no longer be considered the dirty little mutants that they currently are. :P

yes, I hear people I know claim to be lactose intolerant but they're full of crap, they get a mild case of gas from time to time and they think they're lactose intolerant but they only seem to be when they choose to say they are, otherwise they're eating cheese, putting milk in cereal, eating ice cream and nothing happens

Yeah, I can drink the stuff all day and not get sick. It does cause weight gain though so I usually just have some in the morning or with a post workout shake.

No, it doesn't. That's not how a human body works.

All I mean to say is that I am just as capable of drinking 30 oz of milk as I am water without repercussions.

I feel you TC. I can consume a lil dairy but if I eat too much cheese or ice cream it gives me mucus build up and a runny nose.

I had a horrible rather deadly milk allergy as a baby. It would cause me to stop breathing and before they realizing what was causing the situation, some permanent damage had been done to my lungs. I was then put on goats milk, which I developed the same allergy to within a week. Then I was put on soybean milk, and I developed a similar allergy to it (though not the same). Eventually the doctor told my mother to put vitamins into flat coke and feed it to me.

So for a few years as a little dude I didn't get much milk.

At some point in the first grade I decided I wanted to get some milk at lunch, so I did and drank it. I had no problems, and eventually my parents started serving me milk all the time. I have grown to love milk.

At this point, not only can I tolerate it, but I crave it a great deal of the time.

I'm good with most dairy products, but I've been wondering about milk lately. After drinking it (and especially chocolate milk), I get rather bad gas. Kind of unpleasant. :(

As I understand it, they thought it was a common protein from casein in cow's milk. Goat's milk has almost none of it, so it was thought it might be safer. However it does have some, and apparently that was enough to cause problems.

I had a lot of other allergies growing up. Almost all of them have practically disappeared in adulthood.
