[QUOTE="CBR600-RR"]Yeah of course, I've never donated and don't plan to unless I had money to waste.CBR600-RR

The fact that you perceive donations to charities as wasting your money saddens me...

Out of curiosity, are you the type of person that curses at homeless people telling them to get a job?

Right, if I had loads of money I would just buy stuff that wouldn't benefit me, so instead I would donate rather than buy things for myself. Right now, I need the money to benefit myself, why should I donate money when it's not my fault. The spare money I would have I would use for my own social and domestic pleasure.
No I don't curse at homeless people, but maybe they should of tried well in their education and try to get a job.

Not all homeless people are in their position for that reason... A large percentage of them are mentally handicapped for example.

[QUOTE="Cereberus75"][QUOTE="BiancaDK"]Using "survival of the fittest", which takes direct offset from Charles Darwins "natural selection" as an excuse and/or reason to not donate money to people in 3rd world countries is about the worst excuse ive heard to date.aliblabla2007

Why?

Y'know how whites back then justified racism? They tried saying crap about how they were "more evolved" or "genetically superior" to black/asian/whatever indigenous people so that they could treat them like ass and not feel guilty about it.

Are you saying that you wanna let people starve because you think you are more "fit" than them?

Survival in the animal kingdom happens right?

Well it's up to the government to do something about that then.

I don't think that the same saying can be applied to a culture, but rather, to the individual.Cereberus75

Why can't we go by the same rule? Do we need to make the planet become so overpopulated that life is not worth living?

And how exactly would you determine who is "fit" and who is "unfit"? Leave natural selection to the environment, it's far less biased and far more effective.

Simply because a state is there to protect the individual, it cannot adopt a philosophy that is selfish in nature.

What philosophy are you referring to? Because I hardly see how the donation of money to starving 3rd-worlders is a selfish act.

I don't think you're following. I was referring to "survival of the fittest."

Looks like thread is heading to the wrong direction. Anyway, I'd personally get something I feel like I'd want later on. An iPhone perhaps? New Laptop? A netbook maybe? An external harddrive?

It's always the same for me, though there proberbly is something that would be nice even if you don't really want it like if you're into music then some good headphones or if you like gaming then a good headset even uif you just like a good breakfast in which case a caffitiere and some of those egg poaching cups. The trick is in not setting the bar too high, instead of asking for something you need jusst sk for something that you'ld like but can't justify spending the cash on.

[QUOTE="mindstorm"][QUOTE="Cereberus75"] Are you serious? :lol:CBR600-RR
Why not? Is it wrong to think about others as opposed to being self-centered?

It's not wrong but there are millions of rich people that should donate instead. Survival of the fittest is what I go by.

I don't think that really applys to brithday presents.... Anyway he can ask for what ever he wants it's not a debate thread.
