Like most people, I originally experienced cyberspace using Internet Explorer. After a while, I switched to Mozilla Firefox and was so blown away that I stayed with it and nothing else. I recently tried Google Chrome simply to see how it compared, and I must say, that it is by far the fastest browser that I have ever used.

I also like how, whenever a new tab is opened in Google Chrome, it automatically displays the eight most recently displayed websites as thumbnails. I do not believe Google Chrome is nearly as popular as Mozilla Firefox, and to be honest, I have no idea why.

Anyways, I was wondering what browser everyone else uses and how they believe they compare with each other. Please have your opinion be known.

Firefox is awesome.

Chrome is cool too, it's faster, but it doesn't have all of the functionality of FF. Also, wtf is with the tabs at the top?

I have to vote for safari.. It's very similar to firefox, and I was an avid firefox user for years, until it started getting messy, and it's very similar to firefox, and it's made by the same people. I can't think of a reason why firefox is in any way better than safari, other than the customization in terms of cosmetics..

The customization in terms of functionality...honestly, if it weren't for some of the add ons, I wouldn't even be able to use FF due to the lack of useful features...kinda like how I can't use safari.

Firefox, there's no point in being the fastest if you don't have the add-ons and security. Incognito window? Is that like private browsing in FF?

I use Chrome, because I'm tired of Firefox crapping out on me. Although Google is a MUCH fast web browser, it's copy/past functionality annoys the crap out of me. I also don't like how I can't drag images from the browser onto my Photoshop window, like I can with Firefox . I also don't like how you can't select to delete all of your data when you close the browser like in Firefox and the lack of add-ons.

However, keep in mind that Chrome is still a new browser, so I'm not expecting for it to be perfect out of the gate. I'd say within a couple of years, it will definitely be the best browser around.

I wonder if it was one of the new updates that caused it. I've been hearing that as the reason A LOT of people stopped using Firefox (me included)

I had IE for a while, then stumbled upon Mozilla Firefox, which i've been hooked on since. Works great for me, and I like the customizations that you can add.

Chrome scared me off with all its initial privacy issues - sure, you can go incognito from your family (and they from you, thank god), but Google owns every word you even half-type in their address bar. FF for me, though I'll eventually get around to trying one of the others.

I have tried and used them all, including a couple that are not listed.

Chrome is good and may improve until it is the equal of Firefox but has has not managed to get there yet.

IE is better than it was but is still far behind the others.

Safari has advantages, especially in security and I use it for banking but Firefox for almost everything else.

Chrome is my favorite. It's faster, I like how it shows the most viewed sites of yours each time you enter Chrome, and I don't care about the add-ons or customization that FireFox has.

I initially hated Chrome when I switched to it from Firefox, but now I love it. It's much less cluttered than Firefox (which itself is less cluttered than IE), it's faster, and it has a bunch of other little features. I did like some of the Firefox add-ons, like Foxytunes and Adblock, but Chrome still beats it for me.

I started with IE, then moved to Firefox, and am now with Chrome.

Whist FF has customisation, I prefer Chrome because of the larger screen size and the fact that it's faster in so many ways. When I click on the icon to open when I first turn on my computer, it opens almost instantly, whilst FF takes about 15-20 seconds.

Also, when comparing Chrome to IE, Chrome is twice as fast at loading pages, from my experience.

I'm perfectly fine with Internet Explorer for everyday use - I've always found it faster than Firefox and it integrates with Windows 7 better. I do use Firefox for unsavoury pursuits, though.

Since when was customization as minor as you make it sound? It's not just swapping out your browser colors or something like that (not that it isn't possible)..you can actually make enormous alterations to Firefox's functionality. I personally can't live without my Firefox add-ons, so no other browser really interests me. Functionality-wise, nothing else compares to Firefox thanks to the extension community.

People can link to benchmarks all day long, but browser performance with how it relates to the user's experience is nearly indetnical between Firefox 3 and browsers like Chrome/Safari/Opera (having used them each quite a bit myself.)

Google Chrome ´cos it does what i want my browser to do, and only that. No doodads, props, immersive customization, just clean, simplistic functionality. At the end of the day, it´s my favourite for those reasons. :P

I voted for Chrome. But, once Chrome figures out all the Firefox apps, I'm going to be a complete convert. Ugh, how much I hate my college's network for not having Chrome and the use IE! I always have a copy of the setup on the share drive just in case I need to surf the web so that at least I can install Chrome.
